On 21st January 2026, Chemistry research scholars and faculty members from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) visited Donyi Polo International Hotel to attend a programme on the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). The programme aimed to enhance awareness about the global framework for the prohibition of chemical weapons, their environmental and humanitarian impacts, and the role of scientific communities in promoting chemical safety, ethics, and non-proliferation.

The visit was organized under the banner of the NERIST Research Scholars’ Association (NRSA) and was led by the Convenor, Mr.Tenzin Shongmu. The programme provided an interactive platform for scholars and faculty members to engage with experts, gain insights into international chemical regulations, and understand the responsibilities of chemists in ensuring peaceful and ethical applications of chemical science. The participation reflected NERIST’s commitment to academic excellence, responsible research practices, and global scientific cooperation.
