Today is Day, the 80th anniversary of the global body founded to pursue peace, justice, and development.

Our recent participation at the 60th UN Human Rights Council Session was, to us, a validation of our work. Sambhali Trust leveraged its Consultative Status to contribute with 20 interventions, positioning grassroots evidence from Rajasthan directly into the UN’s policy discussions.

To us, this is a commitment to accountability. The United Nations is the indispensable global structure for achieving sustainable development.
Everyday, we ensure that our solutions, from the () to our Empowerment Centers, contribute to that mission.

Direct action for 300 marginalized women, adolescent girls, and LGBTQ+ individuals in Rajasthan is possible thanks to a support from Canada in India (High Commission of Canada)

Our work is critical because the need is profound: 31.9% of married women in India have experienced spousal violence, according to the latest National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5, 2019–21).

Thank you CFLI, your support allows hashtag to maintain this essential structure, providing a direct path to dignity and security.

In the quiet corners of Rajasthan, the hum of sewing machines tells a story louder than words.
Here, at Sambhali Trust’s Sewing Centres, women gather not just to stitch clothes — but to stitch their futures.

Many of them once hesitated to step out of their homes. Today, their hands move confidently — turning cloth into creation, skill into strength, and dreams into dignity.

Every seam they sew carries courage. Every garment sold helps a woman stand on her own feet.
This is empowerment in its truest form — self-earned, handmade, and shared.

A New Chapter for Jaisalmer’s Daughters

Sambhali Trust is proud to partner with IIFL Foundation for the Sakhiyon Ki Baadi Project in Jaisalmer district. Through this collaboration, 1500 rural girls from Sam and Sankara Blocks will gain access to value-based education at 50 Sakhiyo Ki Badi Centers.

This initiative is a step towards breaking barriers, nurturing confidence, and empowering young girls with the knowledge and values they deserve.

In places where opportunities are rare, education becomes the light that transforms lives. Together, we are opening doors for these young girls to dream bigger, rise stronger, and create a future full of possibilities.

Because when a girl learns, a community shines.

“When the voices of Jodhpur and Setrawa echoed at the United Nations, it was one of the greatest honors of my life.”

Sambhali Trust has held ECOSOC accreditation with the United Nations since 2015. But this year, for the very first time, we had the opportunity to travel to Geneva, Switzerland, and present at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC – 60th Session).

Many people ask what these platforms mean:

ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) – the UN body that accredits selected NGOs across the world, giving them the right to participate at the UN.

UNHRC (Human Rights Council) – the global stage where 47 member states and accredited NGOs come together to discuss human rights, equality, and justice.

For me, this was not just an international journey. It was a defining moment where I stood as the voice of my country, my organization, my homeland Rajasthan, and the thousands of women, children, and gender minorities for whom Sambhali has been working for the past 18 years.

This was also my first trip abroad after COVID. Speaking in that hall, I carried with me the faces and stories of resilience – the village woman who stepped into a classroom for the first time, the child who learned through our No Bad Touch workshop that her silence too has power, and the transgender youth who received their very first identity card.

This platform did not only give us a chance to speak, but it also allowed us to be heard. On our very first participation, we were able to present oral statements, submit video interventions, and share written statements.

The journey was filled with warmth and friendship. Our Swiss friends and the Sambhali Swiss team embraced us with such care and generosity that I remain deeply grateful.

I also want to thank everyone who celebrated my first oral statement at the UN. This second statement is a reflection of my gratitude for your encouragement, love, and support.

Today, when I share this experience, my heart swells with pride – not because I reached Geneva, but because the voices of Jodhpur and Setrawa reached the halls of the United Nations.

This honor is not mine alone. It belongs to all of us – my team, my family, my village, our friends, and above all, the thousands of lives who are the true strength of Sambhali.

At Sambhali Trust, learning often begins where opportunities were once denied.

For many of the women in these photos, childhood meant dropping out of school early—some to care for siblings, others because of poverty or traditions that kept them away from education. Many of the children you see here come from families where literacy was never a priority, where survival often mattered more than school.

Yet, every day they arrive with courage—picking up pencils, learning to write their names, reading their first words, discovering skills in tailoring, embroidery, and even digital literacy.

These are not just lessons. They are steps toward breaking cycles of poverty, dependence, and silence.

When a woman learns, she gains confidence to support her children’s education. When a child learns, the whole community moves forward. And when skills turn into livelihoods, dignity replaces despair.

This is the change Sambhali is striving for—one smile, one notebook, one stitch at a time.

A few hours of happiness every day.

At Sambhali, our centres are more than just classrooms or workshops — they are safe havens.
Here, women and children find a place where they can learn, laugh, and grow without fear or judgment.

From the smile of a young girl holding her notebook, to women confidently sewing and embroidering, to children playing freely — this is what empowerment looks like in everyday life.

Sambhali is not just about skills, but about dignity, hope, and the joy of belonging.
