On the occasion of Constitution Day, JCKIF had the honour of hosting Prof Rakesh Sinha, Former Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), at "Dharohar", JCKIF Phygital Museum at IIT Jodhpur.

During his visit to the "Dharohar" , Prof. Sinha explored the diverse initiatives under our Handicrafts & Handloom vertical, which is dedicated to revitalizing India’s rich craft heritage through innovation, design intervention, capacity building, and market linkage.

Prof. Sinha showed deep appreciation for the exceptional GI-tagged and patented craft products developed by artisans associated with JCKIF. He especially lauded:

🔹Salawas Durry: for its intricate handwoven artistry, cultural legacy, and the exceptional skill of the weavers.
🔹Bone & Horn Craft: for its sustainability, craftsmanship excellence, and the innovative design diversification introduced through JCKIF.

He commended JCKIF’s efforts in preserving traditional art forms while simultaneously empowering artisan communities through training, technological support, and national-level exposure. Prof. Sinha emphasized the importance of such initiatives in strengthening India’s cultural economy and creating new opportunities for rural artisans.

His encouraging words reinforce our commitment to building a vibrant ecosystem where tradition meets innovation, and Indian crafts receive the global recognition they truly deserve.

✨The Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation (JCKIF), IIT Jodhpur, successfully

participated in the State-Level Independence Day celebrations by organizing a vibrant craft exhibition🛍️ on August 14, 2025, at Ashok Udhyan, Jodhpur. The exhibition was part of the pre-evening cultural program leading up to the 15th August festivities.

The event featured live demonstrations by 20 skilled artisans👩‍🎨👨‍🎨 from across Rajasthan, representing the state's rich and diverse cultural heritage 🏺 through its craft traditions. Art forms showcased included Bone & Horn Craft, Art Metal Craft, Block Printing, Meenakari, Appliqué Craft, Leather Mojari, Wooden Craft, Tie & Dye, Beads Jewellery, and the renowned Salawas Durry.

🙌The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma Ji, visited the exhibition pavilion and interacted with the artisans. The Chief Minister showed a strong interest in the weaving process of durries, the detailed craftsmanship of bone and horn products, and the skill involved in leather work.

The artisans explained their techniques and showcased some of their most appealing creations.🧶📿

The JCKIF stall drew significant attention from visitors and dignitaries alike. The Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, Shri Sudhanshu Pant, Director General of Police (DGP) for Rajasthan, Shri Rajeev Kumar Sharma, DM Jodhpur, Shri Gaurav Agrawal, and Additional Commissioner Tribal Area Development (Jodhpur), Shri Rajesh Goyal visited the exhibition and commended JCKIF's ongoing efforts to empower local artisans and preserve traditional craftsmanship. The event was further honored by the presence of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, whose visit added prestige and encouragement to the artisans and organizers.

We had the privilege of welcoming Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma Ji, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, to the JCKIC Handicraft & Handloom Exhibition held at IIT Jodhpur during the convocation celebrations.

The Chief Minister applauded the outstanding craftsmanship of local artisans and recognized JCKIC’s initiatives to strengthen traditional skills through innovation, technology integration, and expanded market access.
The exhibition celebrated the rich and diverse heritage of Rajasthan’s crafts, underscoring JCKIF’s commitment to preserving cultural traditions and fostering sustainable livelihoods.

The initiative aimed to promote locally made handicraft and handloom products created by artisans from the unorganized sector, bringing their work into the spotlight and connecting them with wider audiences.

Mission NEER UDAY | Bridging Grassroots Needs with Research-Led Solutions
We are thrilled to share the success of the Need Assessment Meeting organized by Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation (JCKIF) on 18th June 2025 at the JCKIF office premises, Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur Campus. This pivotal session brought together Sarpanches, village representatives, and domain experts to collaboratively tackle water challenges in rural Rajasthan under our flagship initiative, Mission NEER UDAY.
Key Highlights:
🔹 Direct dialogue with Sarpanches and representatives from villages Osian, Salawas, Mandore, Bhopalgarh, and Baori etc.
🔹 In-depth discussions on infrastructure gaps, traditional water systems, and scalable conservation strategies.
🔹 Insights into current water challenges, existing structures, and past/future interventions.
🔹 Exploration of community-driven solutions and potential partnerships for sustainable impact.
