ROAM Humanitarian has been making an impact in this beautiful jungle near Santa Teresa. For years we’ve been taking our groups here to plant native trees. Word has begun to spread about our efforts! During our trip last November we had government leaders and students from local universities join us. Their hope is to offer a similar experience to tourists, nature lovers, and bird watchers passing through to Machu Picchu to help boost their local economy while also preserving their beautiful land. 🌿
We arrived to a beautiful breakfast prepared by the local village. After we were given instructions, we loaded up with endemic trees and hiked into the jungle towards a stunning waterfall. We planted along the way. The trail was covered with butterflies and filled with the sound of running water and singing birds. 🦋 We all enjoyed cooling off in the waterfall before hiking back down.
Days after this project our in-country partner shared with us some additional details that we hadn’t noticed. As the leader of the village had anticipated and planned for our arrival, he dreamed of taking us into the jungle to this waterfall. Our in-country partner told us that as we all happily played in the water after our hard work, that local leader sat back and watched with a look of pure satisfaction, pride, and contentment. He had helped make that experience possible for us and his village. He had helped bring additional income to those in need while also conserving their land.
We don’t always know the full impact we make in an area or for a single person, but when we choose to simply show up with a willing heart and ready to work, there is impact!
We still have spots left on our Spring 2026 Peru Expedition. Our December Special ends soon so don’t hesitate. Register with a friend or family member and you both save $500. Come serve with us! 💛
