Celebrating spring with inclusion, joy, and chosen family 🌼✨

On the occasion of Vasant Panchami, an inclusive celebration was organized in Jamshedpur bringing together youth and the transgender community in a safe, respectful, and joyful space. Hosted jointly by People For Change (PFC) and Jamshedpur Q***r Circle (JQC), the event featured vibrant cultural performances, music, and dance, with participation from over 100 attendees.
With support from the DCPO, Tata Steel Foundation, and various NGOs, the celebration reinforced messages of equality, social inclusion, and shared humanity — because joy is better when everyone’s invited šŸ’›

Today was a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when young people are trusted to lead.

Through the , People for Change is transforming the landscape of youth leadership in Jharkhand — moving it from token participation to real, community-rooted action. The fellowship invests in young people from marginalised communities, equipping them with rights-based knowledge, leadership skills, mentorship, and the confidence to engage with systems and challenge social norms.

Neetu Kumari’s journey is extraordinary.
Living with thalassemia major and undergoing three blood transfusions every month, Neetu could have been pushed to the margins. Instead, with the support of People for Change, she turned her lived experience into leadership. Today, Neetu and her fellow Adir Fellows conducted an awareness camp for girls and young mothers in Ghorabandha, creating safe spaces to talk about thalassemia, early screening, and care. She is actively mobilising communities and engaging with the Civil Surgeon to strengthen regular screening camps. Going beyond awareness, Neetu has begun supporting families to create documentation for children with thalassemia under the RPWD Act, unlocking access to healthcare, entitlements, and dignity.
Her work is changing how communities see illness, disability, and the leadership of young women.

Sanoj Maurya’s leadership is reshaping social norms from within.
After fighting to continue his own education, Sanoj emerged as his sister’s strongest ally and a powerful advocate for girls in his village. Today, Sanoj, along with his sister and peers, organised a documentation camp at the Hitku Panchayat Bhawan, which witnessed a huge turnout from neighbouring villages. Through pamphlets, group discussions, and sessions with mothers and girls, he is challenging patriarchy and ensuring girls have complete documentation to access welfare schemes and continue their education.
His work shows how young men can play a critical role as allies in advancing gender justice.

When youth are meaningfully invested in, communities benefit from solutions that are contextual, inclusive, and sustainable. Youth leaders bring credibility, lived experi

On the occasion of National Youth Day, our Adir Fellow – Sagun Soren from People For Change Organization came together with their Change Maker to reflect, learn, and celebrate the power of youth.
This day, celebrated in the spirit of Swami Vivekananda’s vision, motivates us to believe in the strength, ideas, and leadership of young people who are shaping a better society every day.

Here’s to youth leadership, community action, and collective change!

Youth isn’t something we grow out of.
It’s something we choose — every day. āœŠšŸ½šŸ”„

National Youth Day isn’t about age.
It’s about courage, conscience, and the refusal to stay silent. šŸ–¤šŸ—£ļø

The future doesn’t arrive.
It’s built — by those who dare to care now. 🌱⚔

Soft is not weak.
It never was.

It takes courage to stay tender in a world that teaches you to harden.
To feel deeply without apologising.
To care without armour.

Softness is not your undoing.
It is your quiet, defiant power.

12 months. 3 focus areas. Countless ripples of change. šŸŒ±šŸ’œ
From climate action to gender equity to well-being — this year, we showed up, spoke up, and made impact happen. Here’s to community, courage, and change. šŸš€

This year was about action, intention, and impact. šŸŒ
Through workshops, campaigns, conversations, and community-led programs, People for Change worked across climate, gender, and well-being to turn ideas into real-world change.
We hit milestones.
We built spaces for dialogue and growth.
And most importantly — we moved forward together. šŸ’ŖāœØ
Grateful for every voice, volunteer, partner, and believer who made this year what it was. The work continues, and we’re just getting started. šŸ’š

Today, a dream turned into a collective commitment..

In Kedo village, East Singhbhum,Jharkhand, and ***rCircle , in association with , opened their for Adivasi girls —made possible because the community chose its daughters.

What made today powerful was not just the opening of a center, but the way parents, elders, and community leaders stepped forward and said:
ā€œOur girls’ education comes first.ā€

In Jharkhand, early marriage has long been justified as a social norm—linked to safety, poverty, or ā€œwhat has always been done.ā€ But when communities begin to prioritise education**, something shifts. Old norms start to loosen. New ones take root.

We are already seeing this change on the ground:

From early marriage to continued education: Families who once believed marriage was the only secure future for their daughters are now choosing to keep them in school and skill spaces, because they see girls gaining confidence, digital literacy, and purpose.
From silence to participation: Girls who were earlier expected to stay quiet in community meetings are now helping parents fill online forms, access government schemes, and communicate with schools—changing how their voices are valued at home.
From restriction to responsibility: Instead of limiting girls’ mobility ā€œfor safety,ā€ families are accompanying them to learning spaces and encouraging them to take responsibility as learners and leaders.
From fixed roles to flexible futures: Where girls were once prepared only for domestic roles, communities are now imagining futures where they are trainers, digital workers, educators, and changemakers.

For years, and Jamshedpur Q***r Circle have worked alongside communities to build trust first, knowing that lasting change happens with communities, not to them .This digital training center is a reflection of that journey—where **collective belief becomes collective action**.

World AIDS Day reminds us of two things: the progress we’ve made—and the work that still demands our voice.
HIV is treatable. Stigma is not.
Let’s choose awareness, compassion, and science over fear.
Because when we stand together, we save lives. ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

Today, on World AIDS Day, we stand in solidarity with people living with HIV and recommit to fighting stigma with truth.

Here are some facts everyone should know:
• HIV is treatable with daily ART medication.
• U=U: People with an undetectable viral load cannot transmit HIV.
• HIV cannot spread through casual contact like touch, sharing food, or being near someone.
• PrEP and PEP are effective tools for HIV prevention.
• Rapid tests are confidential and take only a few minutes.
• HIV ≠ AIDS. AIDS is a late stage of untreated HIV, and with treatment, most people will never reach that stage.

Let’s create a world rooted in support, dignity, and accurate information.
Get tested. Get informed. End the stigma.

Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we honour the bold voices of girls and communities in East Singhbhum and reaffirm our commitment to ending all forms of violence—including the rapidly growing threat of digital abuse.

The Reality

In Jharkhand, 30% of women aged 18-49 report having experienced physical violence, and 7% report sexual violence. Only 9% of the survivors sought help.

In India, technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) affects between 16%-58% of women globally, with online abuse (non-consensual image sharing, stalking, harassment) growing sharply

Incidents of online harassment and cyber‐crimes against girls and women in India have more than doubled between 2020 and 2024.

These statistics show a double-burden: violence offline and now in digital spaces.

Our Work – People for Change’s Girl Leadership Program

In East Singhbhum, we’ve launched the ā€œGirl Leadership Programā€ which is empowering young girls (aged 14-19) and community groups to recognise, resist, and respond to both physical and digital violence. Here’s how:

Impact so far:

Engaged over 400 adolescent girls in interactive workshops on digital safety, consent, self‐expression and peer leadership in the past year.

Through peer-led sessions across 20 communities, increased awareness: girls report a 45% rise in ability to identify digital harassment and 30% higher confidence to report incidents (vs baseline).

Created a network of 60 girl leaders who now mentor peers in schools and community centres—resulting in 120 reported incidents of online abuse being flagged, headmasters or local safety committees informed, and preventive actions initiated.

Strengthened community response: parents, teachers and local youth clubs have been reached through 30 community dialogues and 15 digital-rights clubs launched. Feedback shows a 40% reduction in silent stigma around girls raising concerns of online harassment in participating communities.

Greener beginnings at Bhatin! šŸŒ±šŸ’š
Our Nutrition Garden initiative took root on 12 Nov 2025 — uniting school kids, staff, and the community to prepare the land for a sustainable, climate-friendly future. 🌿✨

On November 12, 2025, the land at Bhatin was prepped for the Nutrition Garden under the Climate Action Championship in collaboration with People For Change. 🌾
From ploughing the soil to cleaning the garden, school children and community members worked hand in hand to nurture a space that promotes better soil health, reduces carbon levels, and supports nutrition for orphanage school children. šŸŒšŸ’š
Together, we’re sowing the seeds for a sustainable tomorrow! 🌱
