A commendable initiative is being carried out in Tonto block West Singhbhum District to promote maternal and child care.
Through awareness campaigns, lactating mothers are being educated about the importance of proper nutrition. They are also being trained to prepare healthy soups using leafy greens and vegetables, which is leading to noticeable improvements in their health.

📢 Exposure Visit of Adolescents to the District Child Protection Office, West Singhbhum
On 11 March 2026, Samekit Jan Vikas Kendra (SJVK), Jamshedpur organised an Exposure and Exchange Learning Visit for adolescents to the District Child Protection Office (DCPO), West Singhbhum.
👥 60 adolescents from six centres—Omra, Charbandia, Budigoda, Sini, Amda and Khuntpani—participated in the visit along with their coordinators and staff members. The objective of the programme was to help adolescents understand the child protection system, child rights, and the services available for children in need of care and protection.
During the session, participants learned about the role of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and various institutions working for the welfare and safety of children.
🎤 Punita Tiwari, District Child Protection Officer, addressed the adolescents and encouraged them to be aware of their rights and speak up whenever they encounter issues related to child protection.
Representatives from different child protection institutions also interacted with the adolescents, making the session informative and engaging. The programme was further encouraged by the presence of Fr. Naveen Crasta, Assistant Director of SJVK, and Sr. Benedicta, who motivated the adolescents to actively participate and learn from the experience.

At Samekit Jan Vikas Kendra, our adolescents recently took the lead in organizing social awareness activities in rural villages. From sharing messages about health, education, hygiene, and social responsibility to engaging villagers through interactive discussions, their energy and leadership truly inspired the community.
The activities also included a meaningful celebration of International Women’s Day, where conversations around women’s empowerment, equality, and respect encouraged community members to reflect and support a more inclusive society.

🌾 Empowering Farmers, Strengthening Communities!
A one-day Farmers’ Meeting and Conference was successfully organized at Tonto Panchayat Bhavan by Samekit Jan Vikas Kendra, Sundernagar Patel Bagan to raise awareness about modern farming techniques and government support schemes for farmers.
👨🌾👩🌾 Around 45 farmers from Tonto, Rengra, and Serengsia Panchayats actively participated in the program.
During the session, BTM Roshan Xalxo, ATM Devendra Devgam, and Neha Kerketta shared valuable insights on organic farming, mushroom cultivation, horticulture, and innovative agricultural practices.
Farmers also learned about key government initiatives such as agricultural equipment support, group farming benefits, drip irrigation, lift irrigation, solar pumps, and agricultural training programs that can help improve productivity and income.
The interactive session encouraged farmers to share their experiences, exchange ideas, and explore new opportunities in agriculture. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Gram Munda Damu Laguri.

We are delighted to share that the staff and volunteers of Samekit Jan Vikas Kendra recently organized social awareness activities in rural villages.
The most inspiring part of this initiative is that all activities were planned and conducted by adolescents. Their enthusiasm, confidence, and sense of responsibility truly made a difference in the community.

📢 One-Day Workshop on Migrant Workers Organized at Sundarnagar
On 26 February 2026, a one-day workshop on migrant workers was organized at the Sundarnagar campus of Vikas Bharti Sundarnagar. The program was graced by Bishop Telesphore Bilung, Bishop of the Diocese of Jamshedpur.
Directors of organizations working for the welfare of migrant workers, Fathers and Sisters from different parishes, social workers, and staff members of Samekit Jan Vikas Kendra were also present.
The main objective of the workshop was to understand the situation of migrant workers and to discuss the various challenges they face. Participants shared their experiences and discussed possible ways to support migrant workers and protect their rights.
👥 Around 120 participants attended the workshop and actively participated in the discussions.
🤝 Together we work towards dignity, safety, and better opportunities for migrant workers.

👶💚 Infant Cradle Distribution Program in Rengra & Tonto Panchayats 💚👶
With the aim of strengthening maternal and child health, a special Health and Nutrition Support Program was organized in the Rengra and Tonto Panchayat areas of Chaibasa. During the program, infant cradles (palna) were distributed to 16 lactating mothers to ensure safe sleeping arrangements for newborn babies and to reduce the risk of infections.
The program was implemented by Samekit Jan Vikas Kendra, focusing on creating awareness among mothers about balanced nutrition, regular breastfeeding, personal hygiene, and timely health check-ups for the well-being of both mother and child.
Such initiatives play a vital role in improving maternal and child health in rural areas and building a healthier future for our communities.
