An Appeal to Conscience and Action

In an era where the very foundations of our ecology and agrarian life are under siege, We The Humans Forum for Nature and Mankind invites you to stand with us, not merely as donors, but as co-architects of a safer, greener, and more just future for Jammu and Kashmir.

Our Mission: Rooted in the Soil, Rising for the People
Since 2018, this registered public charitable trust has worked tirelessly to restore degraded human values and repair the environmental damage wrought by unsustainable development and the chemical intensive legacy of the Green Revolution. From contaminated water bodies to depleted soils, the consequences are visible in every village and orchard.
Your support will power a *public outreach program* reaching farmers, rural women, students, and citizens across J&K with life affirming knowledge and tools:

- Sustainable & Safe Agriculture: Training in natural farming, organic practices, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to reduce dependence on hazardous agrochemicals.

- Fair Futures for Farmers: Advocacy for fair pricing and dignified livelihoods for those who feed us all.

- Guardians of Nature: Campaigns to conserve trees, protect rivers, and heal our fragile mountain ecosystems.

- A Plastic-Free Tomorrow: Grassroots mobilisation against single-use plastics, complemented by the free distribution of eco-friendly cloth bags to participants.

Why Your Contribution Matters

Every rupee you donate goes directly into making these programs possible, covering venue costs, refreshments, handbills, event management, cloth bags, and mobility for outreach teams. This is not charity; it is an investment in community resilience, public health, and ecological balance.

Join Us On the Ground

Beyond financial support, we warmly invite you to join our outreach events as resource persons/ Esteemed Guest of Honour, sharing your expertise, inspiring action, and walking alongside farmers and students as they embrace sustainable alternatives.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am reaching out to you today with an urgent and meaningful opportunity to create lasting impact in Jammu & Kashmir—a region facing critical environmental and social challenges that demand immediate, compassionate action. Over the past three months, We The Humans Forum has successfully raised its voice through major newspapers and news portals about pressing environmental and social issues affecting our communities. The idea was to make the public aware as well as to apprise the government of these critical unaddressed issues. The response has been encouraging, and the need is undeniable. Now, we are ready to act.
We are launching a comprehensive field-based initiative to directly educate and support families and villages across Jammu & Kashmir on issues that affect their health, livelihoods, and environment:
- Sustainable Agriculture & Fair Farmer Pricing — Reducing dependence on harmful chemical pesticides and fertilizers
- Sustainable development
- Water Body Restoration — Cleaning and protecting polluted and encroached waterways
- Indigenous Tree Protection — Preserving our natural heritage for future generations
- Menace of Single Use Plastics Plastic — Replacing single-use plastics with eco-friendly alternatives (free cloth bags distribution)
- Food Safety & Adulteration Prevention — Ensuring families access pure, uncontaminated food
- Air Quality Solutions — Tackling urban and rural air pollution
- Community Education — Empowering people with knowledge to make healthier, sustainable choices

This public outreach program requires resources—for field staff, mobility, venue charges, educational materials, refreshments, community events, and eco-friendly product distribution. We seek your valuable support in the form of a donation for this noble initiative.
Your valuable contribution will directly fund these activities and enable us to reach thousands of families with this vital message.

Every contribution, no matter the size, accelerates our impact and brings sustainable change closer to reality.

Ban Single-Use Plastic More Strictly: A Call for Stronger Laws and a Ban on Plastic Water Bottles in Hotels, Restaurants, and Eateries

By: Anuj Kumar Verma Every day, along the banks of the Jhelum, Chenab, Tawi, Devika, and Basanter rivers, people encounter plastic bags, bottles, wrappers, and other discarded packaging. This visible waste is not merely an eyesore. It can block drains, degrade landscapes, threaten animals, and carry...

Poison in Our Orchards: J&K's Silent Health Crisis Demands Urgent Action
Kashmir's orchards feed our families, but today, the entire Jammu and Kashmir region stands at a crossroads. Hazardous agrochemicals are poisoning our soil, contaminating our water, entering our food chain and sickening our population. From Jammu to Ladakh, rising cases of cancer, brain tumors, CKD, IBS and Alzheimer's increasingly link to pesticide laden food and polluted water sources. Chemicals like chlorpyrifos, paraquat and atrazine, banned in the EU and 70+ countries, remain legal here, often sold without training or protective gear. Heavy metals like lead, arsenic and cadmium now exceed WHO limits in drinking wells across orchard belts, and a study of 432 brain-cancer patients found 90% were orchard workers, residents or children who played in orchards. The entire population of J&K, farmers, families, children, faces this silent crisis. Our scientists, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and the agriculture department must lead with pest resistant varieties, farmer field schools on IPM and natural farming, and real time advisory. The government must ban EU prohibited chemicals, mandate food and water testing, subsidise safe equipment and incentivise organic farming. LG Manoj Sinha initiated measures to reduce hazardous agrochemicals under three pilot projects of HADP; now the Omar Abdullah government must carry these forward to their logical end, for our farmers, our environment and a safe food chain across the entire UT. The cost of inaction is too high: more cancer, more polluted rivers, more poisoned food. The time to act is now.
