From the Archives | The First Crisis Support Mission !!

Some missions become milestones. Some become the foundation of a journey. The September 2014 floods brought unprecedented devastation to Jammu & Kashmir, leaving thousands in need of immediate assistance. At a time when communities were struggling to recover, THE-SARA initiated its first Crisis Support Mission, reaching out to affected families with essential relief.

The mission included the distribution of blankets, dry ration, clothing, medicines, books and other essential items, along with self-organised relief distribution camps.
But beyond the relief material, the mission represented something far more important—the belief that an organisation must be present when people are facing their most difficult moments.

That belief has continued to shape the work of THE-SARA. From flood relief and crisis support to rehabilitation, education, health, mental health and disaster response, the interventions have evolved with changing needs—but the underlying purpose has remained constant:
To reach the unreached.
To support those in crisis.
To serve humanity with dignity and compassion.

THE-SARA — is continuing journey of service.

From the field to the headlines — THE-SARA’s Project AMRIT is receiving media attention for its practical intervention in government schools.

The initiative focuses on one essential need: safe water where it matters most.
Water purifiers were provided to three government schools in Jammu for use in their Mid-Day Meal kitchens, supporting safe and hygienic meal preparation for students.

💧 THE-SARA LAUNCHES PROJECT AMRIT 💧
Assured Mission for Reliable Inclusive Treated Water.

THE-SARA has launched Project AMRIT, an initiative dedicated to promoting access to clean, safe and purified drinking water for children in government schools across the UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

As part of the launch, the THE-SARA team, led by Ms. Gurjeet Kour, provided water purifiers to three government schools in R.S. Pura Zone, Jammu:
🏫 Government High School Badiyal Qazian.
🏫 Government High School Haripur.
🏫 Government High School Tohana Tibba.

The purifiers will primarily be used in the Mid-Day Meal kitchens, ensuring purified water for the safe and hygienic preparation of meals served to students. The initiative was undertaken with the permission of the Director, School Education, Jammu, in coordination with the concerned education authorities.

Project AMRIT reflects THE-SARA’s commitment to strengthening basic school infrastructure and promoting the health, hygiene and well-being of children.

THE-SARA is proud to announce the upcoming launch of PROJECT AMRIT — Assured Mission For Reliable Inclusive Treated Water.

Access to clean and safe drinking water is not a privilege; it is a basic necessity. Under Mission Compassion through Project Amrit, we aim to bring sustainable drinking water solutions to schools, and institutions, ensuring healthier lives and a brighter future.

The initiative will be undertaken with the permission of the Director School Education Jammu and the Director School Education Kashmir, ensuring coordination with the concerned education authorities.

As a crucial step, a comprehensive baseline study is also currently underway by THE-SARA volunteers to assess local water needs, identify gaps, and ensure that interventions are targeted, effective, and sustainable.

Under Mission SAHARA, THE-SARA provided tents to families affected by land subsidence and landslides in Pathi village, Pancheri Tehsil, District Udhampur. For families living through the uncertainty of a disaster, a safe temporary shelter is more than just a tent — it is security, dignity and hope. ❤️

The relief initiative was carried out in the presence of Sarpanch Pathi, Sh. Mangat Ram, Sh. Perma Chand and other PRI members, who appreciated THE-SARA's efforts to reach vulnerable families in this remote area.

THE-SARA remains committed to standing beside communities affected by floods, landslides and other disasters — not just in the immediate aftermath, but through the journey towards recovery and rehabilitation.

🌟 Seven Years Later — A Promise That Became a Success Story !!

Seven years ago, THE-SARA took a small but meaningful step that would change the lives of three children. Their father, Narayan Dutt of Kakryal (Katra), a truck driver, was tragically killed by terrorists in Kashmir, leaving behind his children and a family facing an uncertain future.

Through its A to Z Scholarship Initiative under Mission Compassion, THE-SARA committed to supporting the children's education and stood by them through the years. Today, we are proud to share a beautiful milestone: The elder girl is now employed; beginning a new chapter of life and second one entered the college.

What started with a scholarship, school bags, books and educational support has grown into something much bigger — a young life moving towards independence and dignity.

For THE-SARA, this is what real impact means. Not just providing assistance for a day, but standing with a family long enough to see hope turn into opportunity. Seven year journey of education, perseverance and hope. And today — a success story. 🙏
