Today marks "Balidan Divas", a solemn occasion observed on September 14 to remember and honor the sacred memory of all the martyrs of the Kashmiri Pandit community who fell victim to the targeted violence and terrorism that engulfed the Valley beginning in the late 1980s.

The observance traces back to September 14, 1989, when senior advocate and community leader "Pandit Tika Lal Taploo" was assassinated, signaling the onset of a brutal campaign of intimidation, selective killings, and mass displacement. In the months and years that followed, hundreds of intellectuals, poets, officers, and innocent citizens were targeted solely for their identity and their unwavering allegiance to the nation.

Balidan Divas is not only a remembrance of grief and exile, but a reflection of the resilience of a people who, despite losing their ancestral homes, preserved their cultural heritage, scholarship, and commitment to India.

Among the heroes of this struggle stands Shaheed Jagar Nath Koul, an officer of the Jammu & Kashmir Police whose courage epitomizes dedication to the uniform and the nation.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲: On March 20, 1990, during the height of armed turmoil in South Kashmir, Jagar Nath Koul stood firm in the line of duty. While confronting terrorists at Khanabal Chowk in Anantnag, he fought valiantly before attaining martyrdom.

𝗗𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿: At a time when terror groups explicitly targeted minority officers and state officials to collapse civil administration, officers like Jagar Nath Koul refused to abandon their posts, laying down their lives to protect law, order, and fellow citizens.

𝗔 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆: His sacrifice remains etched in the annals of J&K Police history and community memory, inspiring civil initiatives such as grassroots fellowships dedicated to nation-building and youth leadership in his honor.

"The soil of Kashmir is sanctified by the sacrifice of its sons and daughters who chose valor over surrender."

On this Balidan Divas, we pay humble tributes to Shaheed Jagar Nath Koul, and every martyr who made the ultimate sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the motherland.

Mahajan becomes the first recipient from Jammu & Kashmir to receive this recognition, acknowledging his contributions to healthcare entrepreneurship, hospital consultancy, healthcare operations and innovative healthcare solutions.
With a multidisciplinary background in engineering, pharmacy and management, Mahajan holds an MBA in Finance & Entrepreneurship from IIM Kozhikode, a certification in Supply Chain Management with specialisation in Pharma & Healthcare Distribution from IIM Ahmedabad, a BE in Computer Science, and a Diploma in Pharmacy.
With around a decade of experience, Mahajan has worked with leading hospitals, healthcare institutions and healthcare companies, particularly focusing on strengthening healthcare delivery in Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions. His areas of expertise include hospital setup and turnaround, operations optimisation, business development, healthcare marketing, SOPs, and healthcare supply chains.
He has been associated with several leading healthcare institutions as a consultant and advisor, helping organisations develop new services, improve operations, expand outreach and build sustainable healthcare models.
Mahajan is also the Managing Director of Mahajan Medical Agencies and is founder of IndiHealthXperts working on healthcare solutions, turnkey hospital consultancy, medical equipment projects and healthcare business consulting.

JAMMU, INDIA — People’s Hut Foundation marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 6th Foundation Day at the organisation’s headquarters in Jammu. The anniversary event brought together team members, volunteers, and well-wishers to commemorate six years of grassroots community service, youth empowerment, and dedicated social welfare initiatives across the region.

Reflecting on the foundation’s journey since its inception, the leadership highlighted past achievements, assessed ongoing grassroots projects, and outlined strategic goals for the future, particularly in the sectors of community healthcare, youth engagement, and vulnerable group support.

To accelerate its mission and expand its public health interventions, People’s Hut Foundation formally announced the induction of two distinguished professionals to its Advisory Board:

Mr. Ritvik Mahajan joins as Advisor – Health and Wellness. In this role, Mr. Mahajan will guide the foundation’s initiatives focused on preventive health, public health awareness, lifestyle management, and holistic wellbeing programs across local communities.

Dr. Irfan Ahmad Lone joins as Advisor – Health and Rehabilitation. Dr. Lone will spearhead advisory support for community rehabilitation services, specialized medical outreach, disability support, and post-care recovery frameworks for underserved populations.
