Is this the “development” we are proud of in Jammu?

We talk about bridges, highways, smart-city boards, and international standards.
But inside our own lanes, this is what gets designed, approved, and installed.

A massive high-tension electrical structure pushed directly against the wall of a home.
Beside a matador stop where hundreds stand daily.

With zero safety clearance.
Zero planning.
Zero accountability.

There is a large, open, empty park just a few meters away, the safest place for such installations. Yet the decision was made to endanger a family and the entire neighborhood.

This is not development.
This is a hazard masked as progress.

I am sharing this because:
1. It is a direct threat to a family’s safety.
2. It is a clear danger for daily commuters and children at the matador stop.
3. It exposes a complete collapse of engineering and planning standards.

Jammu deserves better. Our people deserve safety, not slogans.
I urge the authorities to inspect and relocate this hazardous structure immediately.

Let’s come together to demand responsible development.

A very large high-tension electrical structure has been placed directly against the boundary walls of homes in Shastri Nagar near Pawan Chowk. It has been installed without informing families, without discussing safety, and without considering that hundreds of people stand here every day at the matador stop.

An eighty nine year old woman lives alone in one of these homes. Her husband has passed away. Her son has passed away. She is alone. This structure now touches her wall and exposes her to risk every single day. No senior citizen should be forced to live with such fear inside their own home.

The most surprising part is that there is a big open park less than fifty meters away where this entire setup could be placed safely. Instead it has been pushed against residential walls and busy footpaths.

This is not only about one family. It affects every resident who walks through this corner, every child who stands for a matador, every household that relies on safe planning.

We request all neighbors of Shastri Nagar, Pawan Chowk, and the surrounding lanes to stay alert, join this page, and support a safer solution. Share your views. Share your photos. Let us keep our homes, our elders, and our neighborhood safe.

Together our voice has strength.
