GLOBAL PEACE CELEBRATES 77th REPUBLIC DAY WITH GREAT FERVOUR AT JRC HOME FOR PHYCALLY ABLED / DEAF AND DUMB CHILDREN

The Global PEACE Organization today celebrated 77th Republic Day of India with 50 physically abled / deaf & dumb children at Jammu Red Cross Home for Handicapped at Udheywala Jammu. Sh Kamlesh Pandit Rtd District & Sessions Judge was the chief guest on this occasion and Ms Monya Kapoor Vice President of the Home and Shri Joginder Sharma Rtd CAO were the guests of honour. The tricolour was unfurled jointly by the Chief Guest and guests of honour.

While briefing the audience about the Home Shri Satish Sharma Secretary said that the Home was inaugurated way back in 1976 by the then Hon’ble Prime Minister Shrimati Indira Gandhi and upto the the year 2014 the financial aid was being provided by the central Govt but the same has been now stopped leading to acute financial crisis for the home. He said that there is school as well as hostel facility for the children and the overall annual budget goes upto ₹ 55 lakhs but after 2014 there is no financial aid provided to us by the Govt except the meagre amount of rupees 6 to 8 lakhs by the Department of Social Welfare. He said that the management of the home have to visit door to door for collecting donations from the general public to meet our expenses.

Shri Kamlesh Pandit chief guest greeted the children, managment, teaching and non-teaching staff on the eve of Republic Day and lauded their role for rendering service to the marginalised section of the society. He assured that the grievances of financial help will be taken with the concerned quarters for early redressal.

Sheikh Altaf Hussain Advocate and Chairman of Global Peace Organisation lambasted the step motherly treatment of the Govt with one of the oldest institute of Jammu and urged the Central as well as UT Govt to meet the financial constraints of the Home by sanctioning financial aid without further delay. He also urged the people to come forward and donate graciously for the well-being of these children.

On this occasion the the academic toppers of the school from class 1st to 12th and the students who have brought laurels in sports and other co-curricular activities were felicitated by the organisation and mementos were presented to the management team, teaching and supporting staff for their unwavering supoort to the children through all thick and thin. On this occasion the stationary packs were also gifted to all the students.

While commemorating the Republic da Day, the students presented a colourful dance and presented their speech & poems. Shri Joginder Sharma, Shri Sudesh Kr Verma State awardee, Raja Khan Executive Officer, Mr Vikram Nirmala also addressed the gathering. Dr Trishi Gupta Convener Global Peace Organisation conducted the proceedings and Ms Monya Kapoor delivered the vote of thanks. The others who graced the occasion include Shri R C Sharma former president Handicapped Welfare Association, Mr Shaka Sayal Superintendent, Advocate Arsalan Malik, Asif Khan, Huzaif, Digvijay Singh Bandral, Shabnam, Afsana, Shoaib, Arif, Rahit, Sahil, Usman, Razin,Tehleel and many others cicillians volunteers of the vicinity.

Shri I D SONI Patron Global Peace passed away at 98

Today a renowned academician, a philanthropist and a living encyclopaedia Shri I D Soni passed away at the age of 98 after a brief illness.

Born on 18.4.1928 in village Bhaddu of Tehsil Billawar Shri I D Soni started his journey as a teacher in 1948 and thereafter served the Department of School Education in various capacities till he attained superannuated as Dy Director in 1983.

Even after his retirement Mr Soni never looked back and continuously served the society in different capacities for about 5 decades. He was the patron of Global Peace Organization and was mentoring its social initiatives.

Shri I D Soni got a special assignment from HRD Ministry, Gov. of India as Project Director Evaluation of Education in the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir. He joined Bharat Scouts & Guides as its Commissioner in 1985 & served this organisation for about 35 years upto 2020.
He was the Chief Patron of J&K Confederation, Social & Charitable Organisations.
Even at the age of 98 Mr Soni used to serve the oldage people ( all younger to him) at Home for Aged & Infirm Amphallah Jammu.
He was the president of Retired Officers Forum -Jammu and the Chief Patron of Hari Prabhu Sanstha, Nagrota Gujroo, Tehsil Billawar. He was also the Chief Advisor to Vichar Kranti Manch International, Jammu, Patron of Bharat Vikas Parishad besides President, Advisor, Consultant and member of many educational institutions in Jammu Province.

*AWARDS & RECOGNITION *

Mr Soni was conferred Life Time Achievement Award by the Govt of Jammu & Kashmir on the eve of Republic Day this year. He is also the receipient of Best Teacher Award - grom State Education Department; Best Education Administrator Award from State Government through Shri G.N. Azad the then CM Jammu & Kashmir; Silver Elephant Award in 2003 - A highest National award for rendering dedicated, sincere and diligent service as Scout to Scouting Movement; Best Teacher Award- From Dewan Badri Nath Trust; Best Social Worker Award from Vichar Kranti Manch International etc.

Mr Soni also received certificates of appreciation from Union Ministry of Education, Sainik Welfare Department, Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Jammu.

Mr Soni is the author of 4 books. His two books ‘Anecdotes that Inspire’ and ‘Oldage is a Boon not a Curse’ acclaimed huge praise from the readers. His books ‘How to live a peaceful life’ and ‘Scripts that Motivate’ are under publication. He was a famous columnist of many newspapers. His articles on morality, spirituality, education have immensely inspired the readers.

Mr Soni is survived by his two sons Vinod Soni and Sanjay Soni besides four daughters and six grand children.
The moment news of his death came there was a complete lull of gloom on the face of everyone who knows him.

Global Peace Organization organized Picnic for Inmates of Vridh Ashram, Jammu

In a noble initiative for bringing joy to the golden age, the Global Peace Organization organized one day picnic for the elderly souls of Home for Aged and Infirm, Amphala, Jammu at the picturesque Mansar Lake.

The senior citizens, many of whom are neglected by their families, spent a memorable day filled with joy, fun, music, dance and laughter. The event was organized to foster togetherness and caring for those who cared for us in their youthful days.

Several inmates shared their cherished memories, sang songs and recited poems creating moments of warmth and nostalgia. The event also featured performances by mimicry artist Sonu Kumar papularly known as Badshah Gujarati, Shri Rinku Mansar Wala, a famous Dogri singer, and Mr. Avinash, who enthralled the gathering with soulful songs. The elderly people joyfully tapped their feet, swayed to the rhythm, and danced throughout the event. One of the senior citizen emotionally said, “Music is the key that unlocks the doors of our memories.”

On this occasion, Sheikh Altaf Hussain, Chairman Global Peace Organization, emphasized on the importance of love and respect for elders. He said, “Elders are the roots that keep us strong. Their guidance, selfless sacrifices, and unconditional love shape our future. Let’s make their twilight years as bright and joyful as they made our lives.” he urged.

Shri Zulifqar Ali Naqvi, Executive Director, Global PEACE Organization also spoke on the occasion. He said “ Elders are the founders of our society and the real tresure of Indian culture.” He also urged the youth to respect and care for those who once cared for you.

The group of elderly souls was accompanied by Shri Vinod Kumar (Manager), Shri Pritam Chand (Warden), Shrimati Suman Langeh (Superintendent), Dr. R. Thapa (Volunteer Medical Officer), and other supporting staff ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the event.

The volunteers of Global Peace Organization, who made this event a success include Ms. Manpreet Kour (Coordinator), Ifrah Hayat (Secretary), Mohammad Skinder Wani (Treasurer), Sewa Singh, Khurram Abbas Naqwi, Raja Khan, Sheikh Sabir, Shahnawaz, Shoaib and Sahil.

The event concluded with a sumptuous lunch. The managementof the home expressed sincere gratitude to the Global PEACE Organization for this initiative.
