"Do not use Indian Currency Garlands"
As per RBI guidelines issued on Nov 2001 stapling of note packets is to be done away with. The objective of RBI's clean note policy is to give the citizens good quality currency notes.
RBI has been supplying the fresh/issuable currency without staples.
In 2013 The RBI appealed to the members of public to stop using bank notes to make Garlands, decorating pandals and places of worship or for showering on personalities in social events etc.
The RBI said in a statement
*Bank notes should be respected as they are a symbol of the sovereign and public should not misuse them and help in increasing the life of bank note*
There is no specific provision under The Banking Regulation Act1949,or under RBI act,1934 to check or prevent such misuse of currency notes.
Decorative Garlands at marriages and political rallies are wide spread in our country. Currency notes are often used which damages the currency and shorten their life.
As a good human being we should allow every thing to live it's natural life.
We should also allow the currency to live it's complete life.
We should not kill the currency by stapling for preparation of the garlands or for other purposes.
As per guidelines of RBI,once the note is stapled it becomes non issuable, which means bank will accept from you but will be sent back to RBI .
Let us pledge that from today we will stop the use of our currency for Garlands ,so that our currency live its natural life as all of us are living.
