J&K Secures 8 Medals and Two 2nd Runner-Up Trophies in Kalarippayattu at 69th National School Games 2025–26
Jammu & Kashmir registered an exceptional performance in the Kalarippayattu discipline at the 69th National School Games 2025–26, held at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi, on 16th and 17th April 2026. A contingent of 16 athletes represented the Union Territory and delivered a remarkable achievement by securing a total of 8 medals along with Runner-Up Trophies in both U/19 Boys and U/19 Girls categories.
The medal haul comprised four Silver and four Bronze medals, reflecting the high standard of training, discipline and competitive excellence displayed by the athletes.
Silver Medalists:
Manvi Sharma, Vasundhara Chib, Pratham Vaid and Chirag Puri
Bronze Medalists:
Angel Gupta, Nitin Kumar, Danish Sharma and Surya Dev Singh Manhas
Further strengthening the team’s performance, Anandika and Tejasvi secured 5th positions, while Aaidah Nabi achieved 7th place, highlighting the depth of talent within the contingent.
The team was accompanied by Mr. Shabir Ahmed Lone (Male Coach), Ms. Sarita Devi (Female Coach) and Mohd. Hussain (Team Manager) whose collective efforts contributed significantly to the team’s success.
Mr. Danish Sharma, Technical Official (SGFI), National Referee and Secretary General of the Kalarippayattu Association of J&K was also present during the event. His continuous motivation and technical guidance played a vital role in encouraging the athletes to perform at their best.
