Muslim Women's Forum

Muslim Women's Forum Muslim Women’s Forum (MWF) is dedicated to working for the empowerment, inclusion and education of Muslim women.

MWF plays the role of a catalyst in addressing a range of problems of Muslim women in India. MWF has worked for the education, empowerment and leadership building of Muslim women, so they can actively participate in issues related to them; can govern interests and laws of the Muslim community in India and also build capacities of Muslim women to participate in wider civil society discourses and not get hemmed in only with their religious identity so as to pluralize the Indian civil society.

More than two decades have passed since the publication of My Voice Shall Be Heard – Voices of Muslim Women in India (2003). The rationale for undertaking a new study in 2026 emerges from the need to reassess, contextualise, and amplify the voices of Muslim women.

A focus on intergenerationality in Indian feminist discourse enables us to trace the continuities, transformations and dialogues between different waves of thought and practice that have shaped contemporary feminist engagements. It draws attention to how feminist ideas, strategies and priorities have been contested, reworked, and reimagined across generations in response to changing social, political, and cultural contexts.

The panel seeks to unravel intergenerational dialogues, tensions, contestations, and mediations between feminist scholars and further explore the concept of ‘intergenerationality’ as a pedagogical tool.
