Raghukul

Raghukul Raghukul, an NGO in Jaipur working with Ranas, a community of folk artist. It aims to preserve living traditions and reinvigorate performing communities.

The rich varied folk entertainment of Rajasthan was developed into fine forms by the hereditary community of entertainers. For centuries, the art forms flourished under royal patronage and an inclusive social order. Breakdown of the same and parting of performing arts from day to day life led to steady improvishment of the community of performers to the extent that their women and children have ta

ken to begging! Raghukul, an NGO working with the Ranas, a community of entertainers seeks to promote and preserve the age old living traditions in the present day urbanized market place inundated with packaged live wire DJs and metallic bands. Raghukul also seeks to re energise livelihoods of performing communities. We seek to create economic and social capital for the hereditary performers . Rajasthan folk artiste enjoy ageless tradition and a distinct identity yet have been marginalized by an emerging economy. It is imperative that in a wired world the folk performers regain their position of entertainers and above all earn the respect of society for adhering to their creative pursuits. Raghukul is also committed to foster the art forms of the Ranas in the GenNext. Empowerment of Rana women and education of the unlettered community is our unfailing passion.
