I-India-Giving Street Children a Future

An NGO giving street children a future. We reach over 4000 street, orphan and destitute children daily in Jaipur, India.

I-India is a fully registered, non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded in year 1993. It is registered under the Rajasthan Societies Act 1958 as an association working for the welfare of the poor people of the state and the Foreign Contributions Registration Act (FCRA) 1976 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to receive foreign donations. We reach over 4000 children daily through our street schools, residential homes and vocational centres and assist children with their immediate challenges, such as homelessness, malnutrition and illness, while also developing their attitudes and skills so they can make a better future for themselves.

🌼 Happy Teachers’ Day 🌼

On this Teachers’ Day, I-India pays heartfelt gratitude to all those who dedicate themselves every day to the education, care, protection and development of children from slums, streets and underserved communities.

In organisations like ours, teachers play many roles. They are not only educators in the classroom, but also mentors, motivators, counsellors, caregivers and bridges between the school, family and community. Their work supports the holistic development of children and creates a positive impact that often extends to their parents, families and the wider community.

Today, we also salute everyone who contributes to a child’s learning and well-being — our social workers, health workers, outreach workers, trainers, cooks, cleaners, caregivers and support staff. Each one teaches through compassion, patience, dignity and service.

For I-India, a teacher is anyone who helps a child learn, grow, feel supported and move towards a better future.

🙏 We salute their selfless spirit and invaluable contribution.

🏆 A Proud Moment for Prem-Pathshala, Jhag 🇮🇳

We are proud to share that Monika Kharol, a student of Prem-Pathshala, Jhag, was honoured at the Block-Level Independence Day Celebration for securing an outstanding 97.80% in the Class 12 Board Examination 2026 and emerging as the Block Topper. 🌟

She received the honour from the Hon’ble Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in the presence of educationists, officials from the Department of Education, and other distinguished dignitaries.

Prem-Pathshala, Jhag, run by I-India NGO and affiliated with Flowering Tree Inc., provides free formal education to children from the rural Jhag village cluster.

A proud achievement for Monika, her family, teachers and the entire school community. ❤️🇮🇳

📸 World Photography Day | A Throwback to 2008

Some photographs do more than capture a moment — they quietly preserve a chapter of our journey.

On World Photography Day, we look back with nostalgia at these memories from 2008, when Richard Kendall visited I-India’s projects and spent time capturing our work with children and communities.

Nearly two decades have passed. Time has flown, places have transformed, children have grown, and many things have changed for the better. Programmes have evolved, facilities have improved and opportunities have expanded — yet the spirit, warmth and purpose behind I-India’s work remain the same.

Looking at these old photographs today brings back faces, places and countless memories of a journey built step by step.

Photography has a beautiful way of reminding us how far we have travelled — while keeping us connected to where we began.

This Sinjara, mehendi on their hands carried more than colour—it carried a new skill. 🌿✨

Celebrating the traditional Sinjara of Teej, women and young girls at I-India’s Ladli Centre adorned hands with beautiful mehendi designs. What made the celebration special this year was that the mehendi was not only part of a festive tradition—it was also an expression of the beauty and creative skills they are learning through the Beginner Beauty and Hairstyle Course.

As a batch of participants received their Course Completion Certificates, the celebration beautifully brought together tradition, learning, creativity and empowerment.

This Teej, their hands were decorated not just with mehendi, but with skills that can shape their future. 💚

🌏 International Youth Day | Yuva Manthan 2026

On the occasion of International Youth Day, I-India and Ladli jointly organised Yuva Manthan 2026 at the Public Space Lab, creating a platform where young voices took centre stage.

Youth and adolescents led meaningful conversations on mental well-being, their dreams and everyday challenges, making our cities more inclusive and youth-friendly, their role in development —with a special emphasis on duties and responsibilities as citizens—and their growing interest in new technologies and the changing world around them, along with many other issues that matter to their generation.

What made the programme particularly meaningful was that it was organised, coordinated and led entirely by youth and adolescent leaders themselves. They were not simply participants—they shaped the conversations, shared perspectives, asked questions and demonstrated their ability to take responsibility and lead change.

Concluding World Breastfeeding Week 2026 | 1–7 August

As World Breastfeeding Week 2026 concluded, I-India together with it’s partner Flowering Tree Inc., organized an awareness workshop at Shwetaark Pathshala, Jaipur, especially for working women engaged in daily-wage labour, domestic work and other informal occupations.

The session was conducted by Dr. Shiv Dayal Sharma, Director – Paediatrics & Neonatology, Eternal Hospital, Jaipur, and former HOD, Department of Paediatrics, SMS Medical College, Jaipur. He shared practical guidance on infant-feeding practices, highlighted the importance of mother’s milk, and addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding breastfeeding.

The workshop was attended by I-India’s social workers, health workers, teachers and community mobilizers, and was graced by Prof. Prabhakar Goswami, Co-Founder of I-India.

For more than two decades, Dr. Shiv Dayal Sharma and I-India have worked together to promote breastfeeding awareness across Rajasthan, providing families and communities with reliable and practical information.

As Breastfeeding Week concludes, the message continues: every mother deserves knowledge, encouragement and support from her family, workplace, healthcare system and community.

Open House on World Breastfeeding Week 2026 🤱💛

On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week 2026, Public Space Lab at Ladli, Sodala brought together women and young girls for an engaging Open House to discuss the importance of breastfeeding, maternal health, and infant nutrition.

The interactive session highlighted the life-saving benefits of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, the importance of colostrum (the mother’s first milk), and the vital role of families and communities in creating a supportive environment for mothers.

Participants also emphasized the need for safe, clean, comfortable and dedicated breastfeeding spaces in public places such as parks, markets, bus stands, railway stations, workplaces and community facilities. Every mother should be able to feed her infant with dignity, privacy and confidence while participating freely in public life.

Together, we are raising awareness, empowering women, and building healthier communities where every child receives the best possible start in life.

This World Breastfeeding Week, I-India, together with Public Space Lab, Ladli, and all our valued partners, proudly celebrates the extraordinary power of mothers and the life-saving gift of breastfeeding.

Across our schools, community centres and neighbourhoods, children, adolescents, young adults and women’s groups are coming together to spread awareness and champion every child’s right to the best start in life.

A mother’s milk is a baby’s first vaccine—providing complete nutrition, strengthening immunity, protecting against illness, and laying the foundation for healthy physical, emotional and cognitive development. Its benefits continue well beyond infancy, creating a lifelong shield of love, care and protection.

📌 Our key messages:

💛 For the first six months, babies should receive only breast milk—no water, honey, ghutti or any other food or drink.

💛 Never discard the mother’s first milk (colostrum). It is rich in antibodies and essential nutrients, offering priceless protection to newborns.

💛 Every mother deserves encouragement, respect and practical support to breastfeed successfully.

Together, let us build supportive families, caring communities and child-friendly cities where every mother has the confidence, dignity and enabling environment to practice optimal infant feeding.

Because when we support breastfeeding, we nurture healthier children, stronger families and a brighter future for all.

✨ A First Experience. A Lifetime Memory. ✨

Children of Ladli, I-India and Shwetaark Pathshala were invited by Le Passage to India (LPTI) for a memorable High Tea with corporate leaders at a five-star hotel in Jaipur.

For many of these children, who come from economically weaker families and underserved settlements, it was the first such experience in their families. The visit gave them confidence, exposure, happiness, and an opportunity to experience a different social and professional environment.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Khalid Khan and Mr. Milind Verma for making this special opportunity possible.

Over the years, LPTI has created many meaningful experiences for disadvantaged children, including a memorable chartered-flight excursion under the leadership and patronage of Col. Anil Alagh.
