I am pleased to present the organizational profile describing the activities up to the years, which has been an initial phase for all of us. We are making continuous efforts to further improve our performance, in terms of quality, quantity and image building. JMGVS ’s various programmes this year continued to fulfill its objectives by engaging with the challenges creatively. It is committed to mak
ing its programme socially, economically, financially and environmentally sustainable using new methods and appropriate technologies. The rural development programmes operate with the knowledge that the poor women in Rajasthan are disadvantaged especially because they do not have access to information and resources. They however have a strong desire to increase their well being, and are willing to engage in activities that would empower them socially and economically. During the year, different development initiatives were made to improve the quality of life and invoke people’s interest and initiative in community action. These include literacy and education skill training, income generation, rural re-construction, health and reproductive health, agriculture, capacity building initiatives, awareness generation of consumer rights, and several other programmes. These were taken up through restless fund raising efforts made by the staff and other members directly or indirectly involved with us. Through training initiatives JAN MANGAL kept its tryst with fulfilling various demands from the environment in strengthening capacities of different community groups. We are fascinated by our passion to work for the cause of all around community development leading to sustained socio-economic development and improved quality of life of the people. In the line with our vision, we are slowly progressing towards the goal of total transformation. JAN MANGAL’s role as an agent of social change is distinctly portrayed through its community based projects working in rural and marginalized areas. It is an overwhelming experience to see things happen especially when the external environment is extremely adverse. Tremendous efforts are required to carve out the change. And once the change is apparent, it brings a ray of hope for another change. This is how continuous development and growth takes place in difficult and deprived areas. Still, there is a long way to go. There is no place for complacency, and we are confident that each and every team member of JAN MANGAL will contribute to the joint effort to make difference in the lives of the people. I am quite sure given the present level of strong partnership and commitment of all stakeholders, the future is bound to be glorious. Our efforts in developing ownership of community and creating a people’s movement for development will be an example for any community development organization. Through beginning is small, future appears to be bright and exciting. One key feature emerging from our work is about partnership and collaborative processes. Building and strengthening partnerships with other organizations has steadily increased our capacity to help people who are especially vulnerable to realize their potential. Gradually but surely we are making efforts to be known as an organization devoted to the cause of social upliftment and for the quality of its work. We look forward and solicit cooperation and support from all likeminded institutions, Government, donor agencies and individuals to continue its mandate. Their all round support has been guiding spirit in times of need. Developing and sharing good practice in advancing this agenda has been the focus of our organization.
