The most unforgettable part about the evening at were definitely the musicians who practice carry generations of tradition in their art.

Mamta .sapera perhaps the only woman khartal player of her kind, whose rhythm challenges conventions and expands them at the same time.

Prem Kanwar Dangi ji, a powerful voice from the Mand tradition, reminding us that folk music is not just performed, it is lived.

Dr. Priya Tiwari, .taal20 a scholar and professor of tabla, whose mastery bridges academic depth and lived performance.

And finally, Alban, just fifteen years old, already holding the sarangi with a maturity far beyond his years, a reminder that our traditions are not only being preserved, but are evolving into the future.♥️

Starting from Roop Chaturbhuj Temple, moving through Gopinath ji in Purani Basti, and ending at Ramchandra ji, Chandpol, every stop was all things maximalist: painted walls, detailed tile work and so much more

With 35+ participants (and more joining along the way), the energy stayed high, the conversations kept flowing, and what was meant to be a 2-hour walk naturally stretched beyond time as we concluded at Madhobihariji mandir.

As cultural partners at the PDKF Artisan Collective, Jaipur Virasat Foundation brought the energy of Rajasthan’s living traditions to the courtyard with a powerful presentation of Terah Taali and Kalbeliya by Suwa Devi and her troupe.

From the intricate rhythm of the manjiras in Terah Taali to the fluid, hypnotic movements of Kalbeliya, The response from the audience was nothing short of heartening; the courtyard quickly filled, and the energy between performers and viewers created one of those rare, electric cultural moments.

Grateful to PDKF Artisan Collective for the collaboration and to the incredible artists who reminded us how powerful folk traditions are when experienced live.

As part of the PDKF Artisan Collective, Jaipur Virasat Foundation curated a special Ghoomar workshop and performance led by Vishakha Saraf and Rajasthani Madhu. What began as a workshop quickly turned into a beautiful collective experience, with the audience joining in, learning the graceful movements, and immersing themselves in one of Rajasthan’s most beloved dance traditions.

the courtyard filled up, participation was wholehearted, and by the end it felt less like a performance and more like a celebration of living heritage.
Moments like these remind us that folk traditions are not just to be watched, but to be experienced together.

A moment we’re still carrying with us.

On the 298th Foundation Day of Jaipur, we had the privilege of hosting Ustaad Wasifuddin Dagar at City Palace. In a space that has witnessed centuries of music, tradition, and quiet grandeur, his Dhrupad recital seemed to rise naturally from the setting as though the music and the palace were part of the same story.

It was one of those rare evenings where everything aligned in a way that felt true to the heritage Jaipur has protected and celebrated for nearly three centuries.
