The Jaipur Cancer Relief Society is a voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer which is a major health problem. It was founded in 2000 By Shri Sudheendra Gemawat (Retired IAS) with the association of 15 Doctors and Social Workers in Jaipur. It was called the Jaipur Cancer Relief Society to take care of Cancer Patients. At that time, a Cancer Diagnosis meant near-certain death. Rarely mentioned in public, Doctors sometimes did not tell their patients they had cancer, and patients often did not tell their friends and families that they had been diagnosed with it.
The Society’s founders knew they had to raise public awareness about cancer if progress was to be made against this disease. Despite the enormity of their task, our founders and their colleagues set about writing articles for popular magazines and professional journals, adding Volunteers to help educate the public. They also started helping needy Cancer patients providing medicines and financial help for day to day living.
