🌸 Celebrating Women's Day with Empowerment, Literacy & Joy 📖✍️🎶
On this International Women's Day, ABCD Welfare Foundation celebrated in a truly impactful way by empowering 20 illiterate women from Girdhari Pura Kachhi Basti, a community deeply affected by child begging. These women, who previously relied on thumb impressions, took a significant step towards literacy by learning to write their own names—a small yet powerful beginning toward self-reliance and dignity.
The celebration was filled with joy and cultural pride as the women adorned their hands with mehendi, sang songs, and pledged to use their signature instead of a thumb impression. This transformative activity was led by our dedicated community woman, Mrs. Rinku, and Field Executive Vikky Prajapat, under the guidance of our Founding Directord, Dr. Shahina Parveen & Sujesh Soman
While this initiative was designed to mark Women’s Day, our commitment to literacy will continue throughout the year. To encourage and support their journey, each woman received a notepad, pen, and a women’s essentials kit as a token of appreciation.
This is more than just learning to write a name—it's about reclaiming identity, confidence, and possibilities. Empowerment begins with a single step, and today, these women took theirs.
💜 Here's to real change, one name at a time! ✨
