Bonjour !

Meet Sonu Bharti, our Student Spotlight for the week!

We’ve known Sonu for a while now. He started learning French as a beginner and thanks to his motivation, he’s now enrolled in our A2 classes.

Sonu is a very active student, always taking part in our activities, especially our screenings. After class, he really likes to hang out at AF, play ping-pong and badminton, and chill with his friends, but he also helps the AFJ team as a volunteer during events.

Swipe to discover more about his experience at AF Jaipur and the reason he’s learning French.

Sonu is part of the Indian Women Impact NGO, and we’re deeply grateful to this incredible organization for including us in their journey of change. He is part of our the French for Social Change first cohort, learning French as part of this journey.

The French for Social Change is a fully funded scholarship for students from economically difficult backgrounds. Supported by the Foundation of Alliances Françaises in Paris and the AF of Touquet in France.

Bravo Sonu, carry on this way and keep up your motivation!

Stay tuned to meet another one of our students next week :)

🎬 Our next screening!

Everything around us is plastic and a lot of it ends up in our food as micro plastics and we don’t even realise it. Studies show that this microplastic unfortunately can show up in women’s placenta and lead to fertility issues.

If you want to know more about the impact of microplastics on our health, join us next Wednesday for a screening of Plastic Detox, a documentary by Josh Murphy and Louie Psihoyos exploring the plastics and toxins we are exposed to in our daily lives and the consequences it has on our health.

After the film, we’ll have a discussion and Q&A with Garima Poonia, an environmental leader and policy strategist with over a decade of experience in waste management and marine conservation.

Founder of Kachrewaale, she established the first solid waste management system in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, building waste processing infrastructure from scratch where none existed and creating a model later adopted across the territory.

📅 Wednesday, 19th August

⏰ 6 PM onwards, please be seated by 5:45 pm

🔞 Age 16+

📍 Alliance Française Jaipur / (parking not available for private four-wheelers)
Free and open to all // Limited seating // RSVP mandatory - Link in bio to register.

Come watch the film and stay for the conversation! See you there!

Say bonjour to Resham!

Confident, curious, always there to help her peers, and the student under spotlight today, Resham has been taking French classes with us for a long time now, always with the same energy.

Currently enrolled in a B2.1 class, she is driven by her wish to keep improving and her love for Francophone culture.

Here’s what she said about her choice to learn French. « It’s a country that attracts me a lot because of its atmosphere, its fashion, and its way of life. Discovering more about France is something that truly inspires me, and it’s something I would love to experience one day. »

She also explains why she chose AFJ to learn French. « The atmosphere simply motivates you to participate and improve every day. We learn without feeling stressed. Thanks to AF Jaipur, learning French has become a wonderful experience for me. »

Bravo Resham ! We hope you continue learning French and get to fulfil your desire to visit France one day.

Bonne chance ! 📸 jaya❤️

We are delighted to announce the launch of the second cohort of our French for Social Change program!

For the second year in a row, Alliance Française Jaipur has received a prestigious grant from the Fondation des Alliances Françaises in Paris and the Alliance Française du Touquet, France, as part of the Français Social (French for Social Change) initiative.

This Monday, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of inspiring women from the Pink City Rickshaw Company, a social enterprise that has been empowering women as rickshaw drivers since 2017.

While very few women drive rickshaws in Jaipur, even fewer among them can speak French. Learning French will open up new professional opportunities by enabling them to communicate more confidently with French-speaking tourists. Supporting their aspiration to learn a new language is a significant step toward promoting equality and inclusion in the tourism sector, a field that has traditionally been dominated by men.

We are excited to see how this initiative will empower these women, create new opportunities, and strengthen the cultural ties between India and France.

Classes will begin very soon, and we can’t wait!

Last evening, we were delighted to close our screening series with Letters from Wolf Street by filmmaker Arjun Talwar at Alliance Française Jaipur, as part of JCA Artists’ Cinema | Artist’s Cinema summer film programme. Curated by Shwetal A Patel, and coordinated by FAEM.

In this personal documentary, Arjun Talwar tells the story of an ordinary street to reveal the complexity of Polish society, where fear and openness, discrimination and diversity exist side by side. His discussions with his neighbours remind us that no society is homogeneous.

Around thirty students from Alliance Française Jaipur and Indian Women Impact attended the screening. We had the opportunity to be joined by the director himself, Arjun Talwar, for a captivating Q&A. Together, we discussed the challenges he faced during the making of the film, the cultural and linguistic barriers he encountered, the impact of war and elections on people’s perceptions...

We want to once again thank JCA, Shwetal Ashvin Patel, and FAEM for making this wonderful collaboration possible. This final screening was a significant way to end the festival, and we are grateful to everyone who joined us during these screenings!

July was an exciting month with the conclusion of some fantastic sports events, like the Football World Cup, the Tour de France, and Wimbledon.

To celebrate, Marie-Sana, our new culture and communications intern, put together a new sports-themed playlist that you can listen during your workout or simply while chilling. We hope you will love it ! (head to the link in bio)

Curated by Marie-Sana.

Bonjour à tous!

It’s Monday, Student Spotlight day !
And today we are highlighting another one of our students, Ishan Gyanchandani!

Meet Ishan, currently in A1.2, and showing lots of progress since he started with us in April 2026. Ishan is considered as our unofficial influencer, by taking lovely pics of AFJ moments after class and by being a very active volunteer, most recently helping during our Fête de la Musique concert, baLLLad.

Here’s what he has to say about his motivation to learn French: “I’m learning French because I want to travel to France, immerse myself in the culture, and read French books in their original language.

Once I have learned French, I plan to travel to France, fully immerse myself in its culture, and work towards obtaining permanent residency there.”

On his experience at AF Jaipur he expresses that: “My experience with AF Jaipur has been great because the teacher focuses equally on online and offline students. The environment is really focused, everyone is friendly, and the best part is that both teachers and students always speak French, whether they’re fluent or still learning.”

Bravo, Ishan! Keep your curiosity and motivation exactly as they are.

Stay tuned to meet another one of our students next week :)

Bonjour !

If you enjoy reading, or are simply curious, become a member of the AFJ library just like our student, Rahul.
A beginner-level French learner, Rahul found himself fascinated by one particular book during the short breaks between his classes. A Hindi translation of Marjane Satrapi’s graphic novel, Persepolis.

Come discover our collection of Francophone books, with a few English and Hindi translations such as this book.

We hope to see you there very soon, and who knows? You might even become part of our « Je lis, donc je suis » series!
