Feeling of expressions
Drama is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance. Jazbaat, the dramatics club of IIITDM Jabalpur, is one of the prominent cultural clubs of the college. The logo of Jazbaat,i.e., the two masks associated with drama represents the two sides of the drama, the Comedy and the Tragedy.
“The need for a Dramatics Club met with fruitful results when the club was off
icially announced on 15th August 2011,as Jazbaat. The aim was to tap upcoming talent and tuning the existing potential among students. The Dramatics Club of IIITDMJ is a perfect platform for budding artistes to honor their skills. The club provides an opportunity for students to actively participate in all aspects of play production.”
The club consists of the students from both under-graduate and post-graduate sections of the college. The club is run under cultural counsel of the college and consists of the office bearers from the students only.The club had 20 members when it started and the count has reached to 68 since then. Generally , there are four forms of drama that we usually perform and they are : Nukkad (Street Play) , One act play(stage play) , Mime (silent act) and ad-mad (comedy stage advertisements). Every year , there are a number of events where the members of Jazbaat perform with full enthusiasm and receives a great appreciation from the crowd.This overwhelming response help us to achieve new goals . Some events inside the college where Jazbaat regularly marks its presence are as follows:
1. Independence Day : Members perform patriotic acts and brings the feeling of nationhood and brotherhood. Every faculty and student joins the celebrations and enjoy the flow of patriotism.
2. DMD Battleship: D-M-D means drama , music and dance is an intracollege interhostel competition which occurs every semester to bring out the hidden talent among students.It creates full masti environment which every student and faculty member enjoys.
3. Republic Day: The first big event of the new year is marked by motivating , patriotic , nation loving drama activities. Every year , students are allowed to go on a cultural trip and show their talent and hence , adds many awards to the tally of the Jazbaat.These trips also help students to meet with the competition going on national level and bring name and fame for the college. With the huge success so far, we hope to have many more milestones to be achieved and many more awards and achievements to be added to the tally of Jazbaat.
