The Harry Potter Book Club at Riverside Natural School has been exploring the series in Hindi, with the children making their own Sorting Hats as part of the exercise.

**In just six months, sport reached 3,516 children across 140 government schools in tribal India.**

January 2026. The BCAS programme enters its first full quarter. Six Sports Trainers begin visiting government schools across Mandla and Dindori. Many principals are uncertain. Some push back. But the coaches show up anyway — every week, at every school.

By March, the picture had changed.

389 sports sessions held. 673 school visits made. 3,066 children reached.

The momentum doesn't stop when schools close. Between May and mid-June, BCAS moved into communities through Summer Sports Camps across 72 villages, engaging nearly 1,000 children and bringing together approximately 3,000 community members through sports tournaments and awareness activities.

As schools reopened in the second half of June, Sports Trainers returned to classrooms, conducting 288 additional school visits and 52 more sports sessions, reaching another 450 children.

**Six months on, BCAS has delivered 441 sports sessions and 961 school visits, reaching 3,516 children across 140 government schools—while extending its impact far beyond school campuses.**

When Urvashi talks about the summer camp in her village, she doesn't speak about programmes or outcomes.

She talks about games.
She talks about learning.
She talks about friends.

In Chaatumar village, children come together every day to play kho-kho, kabaddi, football, and other games under the guidance of their coach. What begins as play gradually becomes something more—a space where children build confidence, friendships, teamwork, and a sense of belonging.

At its heart, Building Communities Around Sports (BCAS), supported by ASICS Foundation and implemented by Mrida Education and Welfare Society, is about creating opportunities for children to learn, connect, and grow through sport and play.

Sometimes the most meaningful stories of impact are best told by children themselves.

World Football Day feels like the right moment to pause and say one simple thing — thank you. ⚽❤️

To every player who showed up with grit, every coach who believed, every staff member who worked behind the scenes, and every supporter who cheered us through the Women’s Premier League Delhi — thank you for being part of this journey.

Football gave us more than a season. It gave us moments of courage, community, and connection. A local singer who arrived simply to lift spirits. Athletes from Bihar who reminded us that sport has no boundaries. Friends, supporters, partners, and well-wishers who showed up in ways big and small — from cheering on the sidelines to sharing a meal with our girls after the game.

These moments matter. Because football is never only about what happens on the pitch. It is about the people who make the journey possible.

Every match taught us something. Every challenge made us stronger. Every act of support reminded our girls that they are not walking this path alone.

This season may be over, but the work continues — with more learning, more discipline, and more dreams to chase.

On World Football Day, we celebrate not just the game, but the community that stood behind it.
