Salute to the Aanwg Anya Foundation members out there🫡

GUWHAATI, November 8: A two days leadership Training on Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) and Women’s Right to Equality for Northeast Region was held from 3rd to 4th November here in Centre for Development Initiatives (CDI), Bullarpar, Mirza Road, Guwahati. The young women's Christian Association ( YWCA) had organised the event.

The program is being Organised under the Gender Academy — a collaborative initiative between the YWCA of India and the Schumacher Society. The programme aimed to empower young women leaders from the Northeast region to promote gender justice, equality, and interfaith harmony.

The training seeks to strengthen participants’ understanding of the intersections between religion, gender, and justice, while encouraging them to challenge patriarchal norms, engage in civic participation, and foster inclusive leadership in community and governance spaces.

Regional chapters of YWCA has participated in the two day leadership training program
along with All india theologically trained women association ( ATTWI) and
YWCA- Schumacher center.

A group session leadership representing from each Northeastern states were held, where the speakers deliberated their state issues and suggested for way forward.

The sessions also highlighted issues on Gender equality in church, while differentiating equality and equity while adding that
Women do not have equal opportunities in the church in terms of leadership.
A session on Transformative leadership for building community by Roselle MF Solomon
Vice President of Western region, YMCA of India was presented. She said, Leadership is service and does not work as authority.

She also emphasized on the work of management to one's imagination. She said, Transformation requires imagination and a leader must be a dreamer. She added, Imagination is also moral, it enlightens us to see what benifits us. She also spoke on Political power acts as monopolisation and emphasised on the involvement of youths.
The sessions encouraged leaders to prioritise
those who are marginalised with a motto for equal opportunities for all.
Through this initiative, the YWCA of India reaffirms its commitment to strengthening young women’s leadership and advancing the principles of Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) and Gender Equality — paving the way for a more inclusive and peaceful Northeast region.

Hello, dear friends!
We are glad to announce that we are collaborating with the and the Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Rajiv Gandhi University and the Department of Sociology, RGU, to organize a Quiz Competition on Tribal Freedom Fighters.

This program is a nationwide initiative under the Government of India, themed Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas, celebrated every year on 15th November to honour the life and contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and other tribal freedom fighters. The celebration also aims to highlight the rich cultural heritage and proud history of India’s tribal communities.
