I would like to draw your kind attention to the increasing issue of uncontrolled earth cutting in the capital area. Excessive and unplanned earth excavation is creating serious environmental and public safety concerns for local residents.
The major problems observed include:
Damage to roads and nearby infrastructure
Increased risk of landslides and soil erosion during monsoon
Waterlogging and drainage obstruction
Dust pollution affecting public health
Destruction of agricultural land and natural balance
Heavy vehicle movement causing traffic and safety issues
Many earth cutting activities are reportedly being carried out without proper monitoring, environmental safeguards, or restoration measures. If this continues unchecked, it may lead to long-term ecological and urban planning problems.
Therefore, I humbly request the district administration and the respected MLA to:
Conduct immediate inspections of ongoing earth cutting sites
Verify permissions, environmental clearances, and land records
Stop illegal or unsafe excavation activities
Impose strict penalties on violators
Ensure proper soil conservation and restoration measures
Create a public grievance mechanism for reporting illegal earth cutting
Increase monitoring in sensitive residential and roadside areas
Timely intervention will help protect public property, the environment, and the safety of residents.
I hope the administration and elected representatives will take necessary action in the public interest.
