Diwali - Diwali, the festival of lights,
Where are the lights?
Not in this part of town.
Unsold earthen pots
And fractured hopes,
That's diwali for us.

Diwali - Diwali, the festival of sweets,
Where are the sweets?
Not in this part of town.
Tattered clothes
Sunken eyes,
That's diwali for us.

Diwali - Diwali the festival of fireworks,
Where are the fireworks?
Not in this part of town.
Somewhere far away in the sky,
Watching others play around,
That's diwali for us.

Lingering in the wait of a patron
On the side of an alley,
With what little wares we have
Day after day,
In this part of town,
That's diwali for us.

मिट्टी का टुकड़ा हूं
मिट्टी में मिल जाता हूं,
नर्म हाथों के स्पर्श से,
एक नया आकार पाता हूं।

सूखता, तपता, फिर रंगता,
हर पड़ाव पर खरा उतरता हूं,
तब जाकर मैं
दीपावाली का उजाला बनता हूं।

एक उम्मीद की रोशनी जगाता,
घरों को मैं जगमगाता हूं,
इस तरह मै
दीपावाली को रोशन बनता हूं।

और अंत में मैं
मिट्टी का टुकड़ा कहलाता हूं,
फिरसे मै जाकर
मिट्टी में मिल जाता हूं।

Diyas and lanterns make the nights brightly glow.
Rangolis bloom with colors on the floor,
Sweets and treats add happiness evermore.

Crackers sparkle with laughter in the sky,
Their shining colors make spirits fly.
A festival of love, warmth, and delight,
Diwali fills every heart with endless light.

They burned my words, yet the scent remained,
A rose from ruins, beautifully stained.
Every tear I hid became my art,
Every silence - a bleeding part.
Maybe that book once spoke of love that couldn’t last,
its pages torn, but memories vast.
The rose - red as pain, yet alive and bold,
blooms fresh upon pages crumbled and old
The paper has aged, its corners burned and curled,
yet the flower stands fresh - like hope in a broken world.
