Sound Check North East was a start-up initiative fudge together by a small team of ordinary yet impassioned music enthusiats in the fall of 2013 in search of a slight hope to contribute a social media platform in order to support and promote the local music scene of North East India. We, at SCXNE, intent to provide promotions for the zealous and imminent local artists, musicians and bands by carrying out featured articles, reviews and interviews of their works through various online social media sites. We outlook in taking online media partnership for any local events and thus supporting them by hosting timely online event updates, shout outs, press releases and live coverage. We also handle artists management, event programming, merch production, tour management and show bookings. Let’s support our local music scxne to help them live their dreams.

Alright, music artists in the North East, it’s time to make some noise!

There are a lot of ridiculously talented people around here who deserve a bigger stage. NE STAR ( North East Star ) powered by Toyota and managed by Unitex Inc is opening that stage up.

Whether you sing, play, perform solo, or roll deep with a band or choir, you can take part. There are no genre or language restrictions, and registrations are open to participants aged 18–35.

Registration: 16–22 August, 2026
Grand Finale: 27 September, Guwahati
1st Prize: Rs. 1,00,000/- INR

World Music Day doesn’t necessarily have to be celebrated on a big stage. Sometimes, it’s simply a small room full of people who genuinely care about music.

Friends and family of the Imphal music scxne, we’re excited to launch Okie Dokie HQ, a tiny space dedicated to supporting homegrown music, art, crafts, skateboarding, & subculture in collaboration with Okie Dokie studioHOOD and Elevate Skateboarding & BMX , tomorrow, in celebration of World Music Day 2026, at StudioHood, Lamphel, Imphal.

Come hang out with local artists and members of the creative community as we browse merchandise, listen to homegrown music, share stories, and celebrate the culture and community we continue to build together, regardless of the challenges we face in the place we call home.

Indie rock outfit from Dimapur, Nagaland, known for their powerful songwriting, gritty textures, and high-energy live shows, hit the road across Northeast India with “THIS IS NOT POP! Northeast India Tour 2026” starting tomorrow at in Guwahati, Assam! The tour takes new material and fan favourites into community spaces, festival grounds, and rooms that still believe in loud music and shared moments.

Formed in 2013, TECK weave indie rock with darker shades of psychedelic, desert, and alternative rock, built on commanding guitar riffs, driving rhythms, and lyrics that land raw, honest, and cinematic.

Following the release of their debut EP THIS IS NOT POP! last year, the band now brings those songs to life on stage, delivering sets that move between explosive volume and quieter, intimate storytelling.

Shillong braces for a metal reckoning today as .official roars back into action at SRGT Parking Lot, Polo.

What began in 2014 as a bold statement from the hills has grown into one of the region’s most vital heavy music gatherings. The inaugural edition set the bar high, with American death metal titans Dying Fetus headlining alongside homegrown torchbearers Underside, Third Sovereign, Plague Throat, and Cheisrah, it was a night that firmly etched Shillong Open Air into India’s underground metal map.

After a period of silence, the festival returned last January in a reinvigorated form, powered by and .ind , and carrying with it the weight of the Wacken Metal Battle, a globally recognised competition spanning over 100 countries, offering bands a rare shot at performing on the hallowed grounds of Wacken Open Air, Germany.

Tonight, the stakes are higher and the amps louder. India’s thrash metal pioneers lead the charge, promising a blistering set, backed by a lethal lineup that reflects the diversity and ferocity of the Indian metal underground: (Thrash Metal, Bangalore), (Metalcore, Hyderabad/LA), (Nu Metal, Haflong), (Progressive Death Metal, Shillong), (Heavy Metal/Metalcore, Khasi Hills), and (New Wave Heavy Metal, Khasi Hills).

Adding fuel to the fire are the five finalists of the Wacken Metal Battle India — (Jowai), (Shillong), (Guwahati), Annhilation X (Shillong), and (Shillong), each battling tooth and nail for the honour of representing India at Wacken Open Air. Expect chaos, conviction, and volume as dreams collide with distortion.

Shillong, if there was ever a night to wear your black metal outfits and show up early, this is it.
