PRESS RELEASE
The Maheiroi Lup - 6 (AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK, and AIMS) strongly condemn the act of depriving students of food at the Eklavya Model Residential School located in Tokpa village, near the Loktak Project area in Churachandpur District, Manipur.
We urge the concerned authorities to immediately review the administration and functioning of this school, which operates under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and the Department of Tribal Affairs & Hills, Government of Manipur. A strict legal inquiry must be initiated against the school Principal, Warden, hostel management, and all those responsible for neglecting the needs and welfare of the young students studying in Classes 6, 7, and 8.
The six student organizations appeal that such unjust and irresponsible actions, which endanger the student community, must never be allowed to happen again.
We further urge the Government of Manipur and the Manipur Society for Tribal Educational Institutions (MSTEI) not to betray the trust that parents and guardians have placed in them for the welfare of these underprivileged students.
To address and eliminate both the immediate and root causes plaguing the education sector, strong school administration plays a vital role. A sound academic environment and transparent management structure are essential for nurturing good students and ensuring the overall development of the education sector.
