I'm inclined to believe that the exploitation of human beings by capitalism, profiteering, consumerism, advertising, and the objectification of sexuality is one of the major root causes of disease today. Children of variously described "generations", such as X, Y (also known as millennials) and Z grew up in a world increasingly dominated by technological innovations. In fact, their childhoods are technology driven. These generations, today, suffer from nomophobia (the deep lurking fear of being without a cellphone). Childhood trauma and abuse need to be redefined. Our psyche is still colonised by outdated eurocentric expressions of what is commonly termed "trauma". In fact, these present generations are colonised irreversibly almost, by a post-neocolonial pandemic. It's, in fact, a yet to be recognised public health nightmare.
