Ipa Ibungo Alcohol & Drug De Addiction & Rehabilitation Centre
Launched in the year 2017 at Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai, Imphal , the Foundation adopts Therapeutic Community Model (TCM), which is implemented with the assumption that the community of alcohol/drug user understands the pain of his/her fellow alcohol/drug user much better than anyone else. The duration of the course is for 90 days, however, the course can be extended be extended or partly shortened based upon the agreement with the family and care givers. The process of rehabilitation goes through 4(four) main phases: detoxification, rehabilitation, old timers and aftercare /extended care. A client after completing the 4(four) stages has the option/opportunity of becoming a volunteer or a trainee or a service provider in the Foundation. This option takes into account parental consent and care giver assessment. Currently, all the non-technical staff, volunteers and trainees who run the rehabilitation center and mid-way programme are from alcohol and drug user community. The 50-bedded Rehabilitation Center caters to different residential and non-residential care & treatment services. These include (but not limited to) detoxification, counselling (individual & family), medical facility, extended & after care, yoga & meditation, referrals (which include HIV and Hepatitis testing and treatment), group therapy, over dose management and other follow - up services.
