Join the Movement - Build the Nation
Education is essential for creating equality and eliminating barriers and discrimination on the basis of race, gender and economic status in the nation and also raises the pace of India’s progress and development. Education not only gives the children, knowledge, but also teaches them ethics, boosts their confidence levels, gives them the opportunities and experiences and overall it makes children fully equipped and moreover disciplined and makes them the responsible future citizens.
At Teach for Change, we gather a pool of dedicated and committed volunteers who have a passion to teach at Government Schools. As part of this initiative, selected volunteers would teach English and Leadership Program in Government Schools.
We at Teach for Change believe that quality education with a focus on leadership is crucial in our Government Schools. Although India is among the ten fastest growing economies in the world, it still has one third of the world’s illiterates. The condition of government schools in India is pathetic. The children in these schools come from the low income families — who cannot afford to send their children to private schools, as most of the Indian families do who have the means. Even though many children attend schools, they remain ill-equipped. A survey conducted in 2007 across 16,000 villages found that, while many children were sitting in the class, vast numbers of them could not read, write or perform basic arithmetic. There is a need for urgent intervention in improving the education levels. India with the second largest population in the world cannot develop with such a bad indicator as illiteracy leads to other problems such as poverty and unemployment.
The Teach for Change Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity for the India’s responsible citizens including youth, adults and old aged who might be students, working or retired professionals or even home makers who are willing to make some time to take a move in changing the nation by serving as part-time teachers to children from low-income communities studying in government schools spread across Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Bengaluru.
