Sparsh Whispers - 46 ✨

Raghavamma once lived for her children every sacrifice, every prayer, every moment centered around them. But today, in the quiet corners of her small home, she battles not just old age and epilepsy… but a silence that echoes abandonment.

Days pass without a knock. Weeks go by without a call. The children who were once her entire world have become distant memories. And loneliness? It lingers like an uninvited guest she cannot escape.

Yet, in the midst of this heartbreak… a gentle ray of hope arrives.

Every month, Sparsh shows up not just with medicines and dry rations, but with something far more powerful: care, dignity, and love.

We sit with her.
We listen to her stories.
We remind her that she still matters.
For Raghavamma, these visits are not charity they are lifelines. Moments she waits for… moments she lives for.

In her words:
"You treat me like family… the kind I thought I lost."
This isn’t just a story of pain. It’s a story of humanity of how strangers can become the family we need the most.

Because family isn’t always blood.
Sometimes, it’s kindness.
Sometimes… it’s Sparsh

Let’s remember: a small act of care can become someone’s entire world.

Sparsh Whispers - 45✨

Riya is 13, yet she still depends on her mother like a little child. Born with Congenital Heart Disease, she cannot walk, and her mental development remains limited. Most of her days are spent quietly observing the world around her.

Her mother, Meera, carries this journey almost alone. With little family support and a husband struggling to accept their reality, she balances work and full-time caregiving feeding Riya, watching over her, and being her constant strength.

But even the strongest hearts have moments of breaking.

When the Sparsh team first met Meera, she was holding back tears, overwhelmed and alone. With each visit, they brought not just medicines and essentials, but something deeper hope. They listened, supported, and reminded her she wasn’t alone.

Slowly, things began to change.

“Because of Sparsh, I found the strength to stand again and face life,” Meera shared.

Over the years, Riya became part of the Sparsh family. Her birthday is celebrated each year as a reminder that her life matters that she is seen and valued.

Riya may not speak or walk, but because of her, a mother found strength, a team found purpose, and a silent struggle turned into quiet courage.

Sometimes, change comes gently with care, connection… and love.

Thanks to for helping us create spaces where children in palliative care can live with dignity.

Sparsh Whispers - 44✨

Sheela’s life had tested her long before illness ever did. Newly married and full of hope, she lost her husband within days, leaving her to face years of quiet loneliness in her village. Alone, she carried both grief and strength until a diagnosis of breast cancer changed everything.

With no one else to turn to, Sheela moved into her brother’s home. Her siblings cared for her with love, but as the disease progressed, it became overwhelming. The tumor grew aggressively, causing unbearable pain, and despite their efforts, the family struggled to manage her care. In desperation, they reached out to Sparsh.

Sheela was first enrolled in home care, but soon needed more support. She was moved into hospice care, where she was welcomed not just as a patient, but as family. For the first time in a long while, she was not alone.

In the beginning, she was in constant pain restless and withdrawn. During a ward round, doctors reviewed her condition and adjusted her medication. The change was remarkable. By the next day, Sheela was calm. When asked, she softly said she felt no pain.

And that’s when something beautiful began.

Care slowly turned into connection. The team became her companions sitting with her for hours, taking wheelchair walks, watching videos, and sharing laughter. Nurses gently combed her hair, restoring dignity and warmth to her days.

On better days, Sheela found joy in small moments playing Snake and Ladder, celebrating little wins, and laughing freely. In a place often associated with endings, she found comfort, joy, and belonging.

Her journey was small, but deeply meaningful.

With support from , Sparsh eased not just Sheela’s pain, but also her loneliness bringing comfort, dignity, and compassionate care when she needed it most.

When the ‘Circle of Care’ community came together....

Some evening reminds you why community matters and such one evening was our Annual Donor Dinner conducted recently.

It was a beautiful evening coming together of hearts, purpose, and shared commitment. Amidst music, laughter, and gratitude, our donor community gathered with one powerful passion i.e to ensure dignity for all.

The evening was enriched by a Fireside chat: Circle of Care conversation, where voices from across the ecosystem came together; a donor, a doctor, Government representative a volunteer, and a family. Their reflections sparked thoughtful dialogue around the urgent need for palliative care and the vital role each stakeholder plays in making compassionate care accessible.

Stories were shared, questions flowed, and connections deepened. Smiles filled the room, and the sense of togetherness reminded us why this journey matters so deeply.

We are truly grateful to every donor who joined us with openness and love, and who made the evening not just memorable, but meaningful. 💛

Thank You Altifi by Capital to support the evening.

Mr. Muralidhar, a 72-year-old renowned music director from Hyderabad, faced advanced liver cancer with severe physical and emotional distress.

Persistent back pain, constipation, loss of appetite, and altered taste made daily life difficult, while he struggled to cope emotionally. Referred to Sparsh Hospice, he was initially hesitant about medication and care.

The team approached him with a holistic, patient-centered plan. Through multiple counseling sessions with him and his wife, Mrs. Meera, they gradually built trust, helping the family accept support. An interdisciplinary care strategy addressed his physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Pain management, symptom relief, and compassionate listening provided him a sense of comfort and dignity.

A highlight of his care was the hospice team celebrating the couple’s 40th wedding anniversary. This unexpected gesture brought joy and created a cherished memory during a difficult time. As Mr. Muralidhar’s condition worsened, he initially resisted inpatient care but eventually agreed after supportive counseling, receiving continuous medical attention and emotional support.

Over time, he became more at ease, and his family found reassurance in seeing him cared for with compassion and respect. Reflecting on the anniversary celebration, he expressed heartfelt gratitude, and his family deeply appreciated the team’s support.

Mr. Muralidhar’s journey exemplifies the impact of holistic hospice care, where empathy, dignity, and human connection bring comfort and meaning, even in life’s most challenging moments.

With support from , Sparsh eased not just Mr. Muralidhar ’s physical pain, but his family’s emotional pain too.

Sparsh Whispers -42 ✨

Ramesh, a 67-year-old former fish businessman, had been living with bladder cancer for eight years.

During this time, he underwent kidney removal and later received radiation therapy for brain metastasis. Despite these challenges, Ramesh adapted with resilience helping with household tasks and even running a small grocery store from home.

However, as his condition progressed, both his physical health and emotional strength began to decline. What was once resilience slowly gave way to exhaustion and suffering.

His wife was overwhelmed with worry, quietly carrying the fear of losing him. Watching his deterioration was deeply painful for her. As his condition worsened, inadequate care led to complications such as bedsores. The family, despite their good intentions, struggled to meet his growing needs and faced difficulties in communication and caregiving.

Sparsh Hospice stepped in during this critical time, helping the family better understand Ramesh’s condition and care requirements. After addressing initial misunderstandings and several unsuccessful attempts at planning, the team was able to design a holistic care plan tailored to his needs.

A family meeting helped align everyone on realistic care goals. When his condition required closer medical attention, Ramesh was admitted to the hospice, where his pain was effectively managed, and his comfort improved significantly.

During one visit, his wife softly shared, “We are grateful for the hospice care it has made him comfortable in his final days.”

Ramesh eventually passed away peacefully. During the bereavement visit, his family expressed their gratitude, acknowledging that Sparsh ensured his comfort and dignity until the very end. Even amidst challenges, hospice care brought him peace and his family, a sense of closure.

With support from , Sparsh eased not just Ramesh ’s physical pain, but his family’s emotional and financial burden.

Sparsh Whispers - 41✨

Husna was a dedicated schoolteacher who spent many years shaping the lives of hundreds of children.

After her retirement, she lived a peaceful life, surrounded by the love and care of her family. She was a proud mother of four children two sons and two daughters.

However, her life changed suddenly when she began experiencing severe breathing difficulties. After medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She underwent active treatment, but unfortunately, the disease progressed to an advanced stage.

Her children were deeply worried about her condition. Watching their mother struggle to breathe was extremely distressing for the entire family. Financial constraints were not a concern; their only wish was to keep her comfortable. Her sons, who were living abroad, immediately flew to India to be by her side.

One of her sons was particularly anxious and frequently reached out to the Sparsh team, even late at night. The nurses patiently supported him, helping him understand the situation and guiding him on simple ways to comfort his mother.

The following day, the Sparsh home care team, along with the doctor, visited their home. As the family was considering shifting her to the ICU or another hospital, the doctor carefully explained her condition and helped them understand what she truly needed at this stage comfort, dignity, and compassionate care.

The doctor demonstrated positioning techniques for a bedridden patient and prescribed medication to ease her discomfort. The nurse further guided the family on administering the medication and managing her symptoms at home.

With the support and guidance of the Sparsh team, the family felt more prepared and emotionally supported. Husna eventually passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones at home, in warmth and familiarity, rather than in the cold environment of machines, alarms, and hospital corridors.

With support from , Sparsh eased not just Husna’s physical pain, but also her family’s emotional burden.
