to Elect National President for the First Time The process of selection for the new National
President commenced about 2 months back
when the incumbent National President Shri
Rohit Chaudhary resigned. Application to this
post was open to all the National Office Bearers,
State Presidents and State Vice Presidents. A total of 52 applications were received. After a round of Group Discussion (GD) and
personal interviews, candidates had to present
their 6 month action plan if they became
President. 18 candidates were shortlisted who
had to undergo another round of interview
before the Executive Committee of the frontals: IYC & NSUI. 12 candidates were shortlisted finally who met
Congress Vice President Shri Rahul Gandhi for
discussion and screening, who was then
supposed to take the final decision. But Shri
Rahul Gandhi, however, decided to delegate his
power into the hands of State Presidents and National Office bearers who will now ELECT the
next National President of NSUI. For the first
time, National President of the NSUI will be
elected by its office bearers and not nominated
by the party leadership. The office bearers are thankful to Shri Rahul
Gandhi for empowering us to choose who leads
the organization. Shri. Rahul Gandhi has proved
yet against that action speaks louder than
words. It is yet another milestone in the
democratization process by ensuring transparency.
