Mr. Shanti Kumar - Sarah’s Convent - 9849592254

I visited Sarah's Convent on 4 July, 2026 to understand the functioning, its facilities, and interact with the management for the authenticity of their request for financial support.

My first impression of the campus was satisfying. The premises are clean, and well maintained. The dining area was clean and hygienic.

I met Mr. Sunil Kumar, the Manager of the convent, who has been looking into fundraising, administration, and maintenance for nearly 12 years.

This Home started in Ongole in 2009, with 10 children with special needs. He spoke about Sister Agnes who started this home and is currently in the US. She visits the home once or twice a year. She also contributes to the maintenance of the place financially.

He gave me a detailed overview of the children's daily activities, their food habits, medical requirements, and the special care each child receives. He explained how children with special needs require continuous attention, making the home's monthly costs much higher.

The children have access to doctors, psychologists, and medical staff (49 people) who are available around the clock to attend to their health needs.

Mr. Sunil showed me photographs of the children, the campus, and their day-to-day activities. He also showed a PowerPoint presentation about their work. He also took me to the boys' floor, where I observed the ICU, Pharmacy, and rooms.

Mr. Sunil mentioned that their most important needs are medicines and diapers, as these constitute a major part of their monthly expenses (Including the staff salaries) which amounts to almost Rs. 9 Lakhs per month and Rs. 1 Crore annually.

Overall, after my visit I felt that the organization is well structured, professionally managed, and committed to the welfare of the children.

A peek into the lives of the Volunteers and how they made their way to our Social:

- Aashi Rupani excused herself from a family function.

- Two teenagers chose to spend their Saturday evening with us instead of hanging out with their teenage pals.

- Kranti Remala stepped away from another social gathering to be there.

- Dipti Agarwal wrapped up a training session for women and rushed in.

- Vindhya Ch, despite a foot fracture, made her way- limping but determined.

These were just a few among the 14 volunteers who made a conscious effort to attend the Bring a Smile Social on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Because a Social is more than just a gathering.

It's an evening where like-minded people come together - where life's pressures briefly take a backseat, where laughter is genuine, conversations are meaningful and everyone feels seen and heard. It’s where pure, positive energy speaks! 🧿

This Quarter’s Social was held at Roast CCX, Hyderabad and was marked by heartfelt discussions, shared perspectives and genuine connection.

A special thanks to Mushir Khan (Founder, Freedom Again Foundation) for introducing us to the owner of Roast CCX (Mr. Hanumanth), who graciously offered support for food distribution for any future initiatives - if a volunteer in BaSmile can step up to lead it :)

A quick picture, a few long hugs-and then everyone returned to their routines - a little more energized, connected and happier!

Bring a Smile Foundation was approached by HappitudeCo—to partner with Amazon for their Sankranti celebration in Hyderabad on January 13, 2026.

The employees in the AHS team at the Amazon Development Centre, came together to prepare traditional Sankranti delicacies—sesame, coconut and jaggery laddoos.

In total, 40 sweet boxes were lovingly assembled, with the intention of sharing them with street children.

Our Bring a Smile representative, Dipti Agarwal, helped bring this beautiful idea to life.

In Dipti’s words:

"On January 13, 2026, I carried those sweet-boxes to a construction site in Narsingi, Hyderabad where the children of daily-wage workers spend their days surrounded by concrete and dust.

As I began distributing the boxes, they gathered quietly—some hesitant, some excited, some watching from a distance.
Little hands reached out. Eyes widened. Smiles appeared—the kind that don’t need words.

Then, one young child walked up to me, looked at the box, and asked softly, “Aunty… Mithai Doge? (Will you give me some Sweets?).”

In that moment, it felt like I was offering something rare—not just sweets, but a simple, unexpected feeling of celebration.

Because sometimes, for a child, a box of mithai isn’t just mithai.
It’s a moment of celebration.

That day, I didn’t just distribute sweet boxes. I distributed a moment."

We kickstarted 2026 with a Bring a Smile Foundation Social on January 10, 2026 at Habitat Cafe in Hyderabad.

A Social is a casual meet-up to enable volunteers to put a face to the name or WApp number!

Thirteen / 13 of us gathered and spoke about the various projects that this Foundation has been involved in since 2012.

The projects have spanned education, health, infrastructure assistance (eg. construction of toilets in Government schools, renovation of classrooms) and a lot more. We’ve also distributed 7000+ blankets so far.

From 2019 onwards, Bring a Smile Foundation has spent nearly Rs. 2 crores / USD 220,000 (approx) on charitable projects.

Most of these Causes have come in from the volunteers themselves. We are 550+ volunteers across 9 domestic and global geographies.

Please note that no one gets paid in Bring A Smile Foundation. Everyone is a volunteer.

As an NGO, it’s been our constant endeavour to be a conduit of help to humanity and may we all continue to do that!

On World AIDS Day, December 1, 2025, Bring a Smile Foundation, together with Samaritans of the Nation, shared a gesture of warmth by donating 100 blankets worth Rs. 14,000 to Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad, Telangana. 100 people will sleep better this winter.

These blankets found their way into the hands of HIV patients — elders, brave adults, and little children — at the Gandhi Hospital ART (Anti Retroviral Therapy) Center.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Bring a Smile volunteers N Prashant and Akshay Kokala whose on-ground support made the blankets distribution ex*****on seamless.

This meaningful event was organized and coordinated by the dedicated teams at the Gandhi Hospital ART Center and Cheyuta NGO.

To our generous donors — thank you.

Your kindness helped spread not just warmth, but hope, dignity, and love this winter.

Every year, the Bring a Smile Foundation, Hyderabad organises a Collection Drive — a simple idea rooted in a powerful belief: that the extra in our homes can become a lifeline for someone else.

On October 11, 2025, a team of 20 people working behind the scenes organised a Collection drive across 10 Areas in Hyderabad. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary!

After weeks of planning and quiet hard work, our team pulled off a huge success!

With your help, Hyderabad city, we collected and sent out 14+ tonnes of pre-loved clothes, books, stationery, utensils, linen, small appliances, and countless other everyday items — each one carrying a story, a sentiment, a touch of humanity. 11 transport vehicles were sent to Goonj (Paritosh - +91 80197 77799), while items also made their way to NGOs such as Helping Hands Humanity (Satish - +91 7995438644), RK’s Home for the Aged (+91 99599 32323) and SAFA (+91 89774 38131).

But beyond the numbers, what we’ll carry in our hearts are the memories —

Like the army veteran who came to donate his late daughter’s clothes or the single mother who spent the weekend sorting clothes and books of her child, who’d flown the nest.

We will remember the heartfelt thank-you’s and smiles from donors which conveyed, “We’ve also been able to contribute to humanity, through this initiative.”

Thank you again Hyderabad, for showing up — with your things, with your time, and most of all, with your heart.

Clearly, kindness is a currency, that still works.
