22-10-1994 to 22-10-2024: A Three-Decade Journey of Mahita
Thirty years ago, in a small Irani café tucked away in the bylanes of Hyderabad, Mahita was born from a series of passionate brainstorming sessions with visionary minds like Late Prof. Kethu Vishwanadha Reddy, Sudha Madam, Padma, Tanuja, Vidya and myself. What began as a humble dream has grown into a movement that has touched countless lives.
Like the global development landscape, Mahita has experienced its own share of triumphs and challenges. But through it all, we have stood unwavering in our mission to restore the rights and dignity of children. Our work in quality education, livelihood skills, humanitarian aid, Natural resource management, child labor rescue, school enrolment and retention, and government school renovations, including WASH facilities, has transformed villages into child-labor-free zones.
One of Mahita’s proudest achievements has been building a network of 300 NGOs across two states, collectively advocating for child rights and leading impactful campaigns. Our livelihood interventions have opened doors for young girls to secure decent jobs and empowered women to start their own entrepreneurial journeys. Through our rural and tribal interventions, we’ve helped farmers embrace smart agricultural practices, adopt renewable energy, and thrive through vegetable cultivation, bringing hope and prosperity back to their communities.
This remarkable journey has only been possible because of the incredible dedication of our committed staff, the unwavering support of our board members, the generosity of our donor agencies, and the selfless contributions of volunteers. Each of you, visible and invisible, has been the backbone of Mahita, helping us overcome obstacles and achieve milestones we never thought possible.
As we celebrate 30 years of Mahita’s journey, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood by us, shared in our vision, and helped us bring smiles to the faces of countless underprivileged communities and children. This is not just Mahita's story—this is a collective journey of compassion, resilience, and unwavering hope. Here’s to 30 years of incredible impact, and to many more years of transforming lives and creating a brighter, more equitable future for all.
Thank you for being a part of this unforgettable journey.
