**HMWSSB Launches Public Awareness Campaign on Harvesting Pits in Silpa Avenue Colony**

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) today launched a public awareness campaign to promote the importance of harvesting pits for water conservation. As part of this initiative, **Silpa Avenue Colony** has been selected as the model colony to achieve **100% implementation of harvesting pits** in all households.
The program was graced by **Mr. T.V. Sridhar**, Director (Operations), HMWSSB, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries who participated included **Mr. Narayana**, Chief General Manager (Circle IV), **Mr. Hari Shankar**, General Manager, **Smt. T. Naga Priya**, Deputy General Manager, **Sri Mohd Shamsheer**, Deputy General Manager, and **Sri P. Srikanth Reddy**, Manager, along with other HMWSSB officials and staff.
Addressing the gathering, **Sri Hari Shankar** emphasized the critical need for rainwater harvesting pits in combating water scarcity and reducing dependence on water tankers. He lauded the colony for its initiative and commitment towards sustainable water management, stating that Silpa Avenue was chosen as the pilot colony to showcase the feasibility of achieving 100% rainwater harvesting in residential communities.
**Mr. T.V. Sridhar**, in his speech, shared a personal experience about how his own household had achieved **zero dependency on water tankers** through the successful implementation of harvesting pits. His story served as a motivating example for all residents.
The event was conducted at **East Side Living**, a prominent community within the colony, known for its well-maintained conservation pits. The owners of East Side Living, **Mr. Krishna** and **Mr. Venkat**, were present and appreciated for their active role in promoting water conservation efforts.
Representing the colony, **Satyanarayana , Prabhakar , **G. Narayana Reddy**, **Kishore Reddy**, **Govind**, **Sudhakar**, and other residents were present at the event. The colony members expressed strong support for the initiative and requested that **public parks also be utilized for installing harvesting pits**. They assured the HMWSSB team of **full cooperation from the residents** in making this campaign a success. Also informec the success of harvesting pits establishment credit should be with plot owners for voluntary action taken. We expressed our sincere gratitude to HMWSSB for selecting our colony for this important awareness campaign. The credit for establishing harvesting pits in our colony truly belongs to the individual plot owners, whose proactive efforts and commitment to water conservation have made this initiative possible.
This collaborative effort between the HMWSSB and the residents of Silpa Avenue Colony marks a significant step towards sustainable urban water management and community-driven conservation.
