Weekly Hostel Ijtema | Syed Aasim Suhail | Captives of Desire (خواہشات کے اسیر) | SIO MANUU Unit
Weekly Hostel Ijtema is a regular educational and spiritual gathering organized every Friday by the Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) MANUU Unit. The purpose of this weekly session is to nurture intellectual growth, strengthen Islamic values, and encourage meaningful discussions on issues that shape the personal, moral, and social lives of students. Through lectures, reflections, and interactive engagement, the Ijtema serves as a platform for character building, self-improvement, and the development of responsible, value-driven individuals.
In this week's session, Br. Syed Aasim Suhail, Research Scholar, Department of Sociology, MANUU, delivered a thought-provoking talk on "Captives of Desires (خواہشات کے اسیر)". The lecture explored how unchecked desires can gradually influence a person's character, decision-making, and relationship with Allah and society. It emphasized the importance of self-discipline, spiritual consciousness (Taqwa), and moral responsibility in overcoming the distractions and temptations of modern life. The session encouraged students to cultivate balance, purpose, and ethical conduct while striving for both academic excellence and spiritual growth.
