At RIHP Hospital, Coorg, Dr. Chandru shares how VRF’s support has helped change healthcare in the region.

Just a few years ago, patients had to travel all the way to Mysore or Bangalore for specialised care. Today, that’s no longer the case.

With the ICU established in 2022, and the Ophthalmic Operation Theatre added in 2023, the hospital has slowly witnessed a shift.

Patients have access to faster critical care, stronger systems, and renewed confidence in how emergencies are handled.

What started as infrastructure developments have helped bring the hospital back to life.

As Dr. Chengappa shared, “The transformation of RIHP has been a dream come true.”

We are grateful to be a part of this journey that continues to grow and support the people in Coorg.

A vital step forward for children’s health in Telangana.

The 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the District Hospital, Narayanpet has played an important role in providing critical care for children in the region.

Since 2021, this facility has treated more than 18,520 children, free of cost. It reflects the importance of sustained healthcare infrastructure ensuring free and accessible treatment for families from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

Sponsored by the Veni Rao Foundation and inaugurated by K. T. Rama Rao Garu, the PICU continues to provide specialised care for children and reassurance for families across the region.

We believe in building strong medical facilities in rural India, so no one has to travel far for critical care.

VRF championed this belief at the Rural India Health Project (RIHP) Hospital in Coorg, sponsoring the establishment of adult and paediatric ICUs.

Inaugurated in February 2022 amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, these units profoundly strengthened the hospital’s ability to deliver structured intensive care. In less than 2 years, the ICUs saved the lives of 643 people, including 200 children.

The ICUs operate with a standing policy of free care for BPL cardholders, ensuring life-saving treatment remains accessible and equitable for the region’s most vulnerable communities.

In July 2021, in Rajahmundry, access to timely critical care became a priority during the height of the COVID-19 crisis.

In partnership with Nirmaan Organization (), VRF sponsored a 10-bed ICU at the Government Hospital, Rajahmundry. The unit strengthened the hospital’s emergency response capacity and ensured that patients could access free, essential intensive care support when it was needed most.

In just 9 months, the ICU provided care for over 2,800 adults and children. Today, it continues to serve a wider community and remains an active part of the hospital’s emergency care services.

A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff on the ground who make this care possible, everyday!

In 2021, the Veni Rao Foundation partnered with the Area Hospital, Kondapur to establish a 10-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. The project strengthened the hospital with essential infrastructure and medical equipment to support specialised critical care services.

Since then, more than 2,047 children received care across Paediatric, NBW, SNCU and DPCU units.

What began during the pandemic continues to ensure safer, more reliable care for the youngest members of the community.

We’re grateful to be able to play a small part in helping children when they need it most. 🤍

Making critical care accessible starts with listening to what hospitals truly need and responding with care, speed, and clarity.

Across Coorg, Kondapur, Narayanpet, and Rajahmundry,w we had the opportunity to help establish Adult ICUs and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) in government and rural hospitals.

From rapid COVID-19 response to building permanent infrastructure, these units were set up by medical teams to ensure children and families could access timely and quality treatment.

Collectively, these 4 VRF-supported ICUs have provided life-saving care to over 21,942 patients, including 19,134 children.

We are so grateful to our partners who made this possible!

A huge thank you to Dr. Rajeev Pappuru and L V Prasad Eye Institute () for partnering with us on such a meaningful initiative. We are grateful to witness the impact and change.

With their support, our shared commitment to promoting eye health and preventing blindness is delivering quality eye care to thousands each year.

Together, we continue working towards accessible and equitable eye care for all. 💞

Nearly 500,000 people across the Ranga Reddy district had limited access to consistent, high-quality eye care. Mobile eye camps tried to bridge the gap, but they were temporary by nature, often unable to provide long-term care.

The L V Prasad Eye Institute in Kismatpur was created to address this need. VRF supported this effort by sponsoring the surgical centre and operating theatres, with one simple intention: to meet people where they are, without letting affordability stand in the way.

From day one, surgeries took place every day.
And no one was turned away because they couldn’t pay.

Over time, the impact grew:
• 14,845 surgeries performed
• 5,039 of them completely free

The photographs from opening day and the newspaper clippings still remind us why this work matters. In a country where much of blindness is avoidable, this project reaffirmed that basic healthcare should be accessible to all.

Why do we keep asking the wrong questions?

➡️ How can we help more people?
➡️ How do we scale impact?
➡️ How do we measure success?

💡 Education is the single most powerful tool to empower someone. It doesn’t just change one life, it rewrites entire futures.

🩺 Healthcare isn’t a luxury. It’s a basic necessity.
No one should be denied treatment simply because of what’s in their bank account.

👴🏽And our elders? They built everything we stand on today. They deserve dignity, respect, and proper care.

We know we can’t fix everything.
But, we can surely start somewhere, and that’s why we exist.

To the Kind Hearts of 1942,

You saw a boy studying under a streetlight.
You gave him money you probably needed yourselves.
You expected nothing in return.

But because of you, that boy was able to study.
He became an engineer, a loving husband, and a caring father.

His life became proof of the power of education and kindness.
He passed those values on to his 6 children.
His daughter went on to start a foundation in his memory.

This year alone, it has supported over 350 students with their education. Each carrying forward a story that began with you.

We know you may never read this, but it still matters to say it.

Thank you for starting something you never knew would live on, even decades later.
