DBT/WT India Alliance-supported research by Pushkar Sharma was featured in The Times of India for identifying a key protein that plays a critical role in the multiplication of the malaria parasite.

The study shows that disrupting this protein can halt parasite growth, highlighting a promising target for the development of antimalarial therapies and offering new hope in the fight against drug-resistant malaria.

The Indian Express featured DBT/WT India Alliance-supported researcher Dr.Srinivas Marmamula and the LEADS (Longitudinal Eye Health, Ageing and Disability Study), which is exploring how vision impairment affects healthy ageing in India.

The study examines how untreated vision loss influences mobility, mental health, cognition, and quality of life among older adults, and whether interventions such as cataract surgery and corrective spectacles can improve health beyond vision.

With more than 80% of vision impairment being preventable or treatable, the research highlights the importance of integrating eye care into healthy ageing strategies and public health policy.
