Follow us on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/NaandiWater Naandi, which in Sanskrit means a new beginning; is one of the largest and fastest growing social sector organisations in India working to make poverty history. Founded in 1998 our work has 3 broad sectors: Child Rights, Safe Drinking Water and Sustainable Livelihoods. We also have a research arm that takes up action researches and other field based trials to check out innovations and their potential to positively influence policy. Our ideology revolves around building sustainable models within the social sector that deliver critical services efficiently and equitably to underserved communities. In 2007, Naandi ventured into the Safe Drinking Water programme in 2007 to install and operate community water centers able to reliably and cost-effectively address water contamination issues, which have grown very rapidly in recent years. The health consequences of poor drinking water quality are enormous. According to WaterAid, around 37.7 million Indians are affected by waterborne diseases annually and 1.5 million children die of diarrhea alone. The economic burden associated with unsafe water is estimated at $600 million a year. To tackle this problem effectively Naandi partnered with Danone Communities, the social investment fund of Danone Group; a leading food and beverage company, in 2010 to jointly set up Naandi Community Water Services (aka Naandi Water). This new social enterprise is a self sustainable model combining a management discipline and a strong social fibre towards the goal of providing inclusive access to safe drinking water. Today, NCWS provides clean drinking water to close to 2.3 million people in over 400 villages of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. NCWS with a team of 150 + experienced professionals, is the largest and most experienced community water centre operator in India, with ambitious plans for further and rapid expansion.

Cinema isn’t just about telling stories—it’s about reflecting the realities around us. 🎬💧

In the social sector, we work every day to raise awareness, advocate for change, and bridge critical gaps. But every so often, a story, a painting, or a photograph stops us in our tracks—reminding us that creative storytelling touches hearts in ways words alone cannot. That is exactly what happened when we watched Moolyam on ETV Win.

In this upcoming conversation with Naandi Water, director PV Avinash Varma dives deep into the making of the film, the real-world water concerns that inspired it, and why access to safe water is a conversation we can no longer delay.

We are all the more happy to share this during the

A heartfelt thank you to Kausheyaexpo for providing us with a space and opportunity to share our School Water Program story with their customers. It’s because of partnerships like this that more children across India will have a right to safe drinking water in their schools.

Let’s keep talking about safe water access! For more information, please visit the link in our bio.

We applaud donors who provide stationery and uniforms, but we have to ask: why do we so often forget clean water? Access to safe drinking water is as essential as a textbook — it protects health, improves attendance, and boosts concentration. Help us close this gap by funding water solutions for 2,500 school children in Telangana.

Naandi Water’s School Water Program makes sure safe drinking water reaches children right where learning happens — in government school classrooms and anganwadis.

Every contribution makes a measurable difference. Link to donate: https://www.ketto.org/fundraiser/transform-2500-lives-with-clean-water , link also available in our bio and story.

Some privileges are so ordinary that we don’t even notice them. Safe drinking water is one of them.

For many of us, drinking a glass of clean water has never been a decision. It’s simply been there at home, at school, at work. We rarely stop to think about what life would look like without it.

But millions of children across India don’t have that certainty.

In this heartfelt reflection, our Head of Human Resources, Anupama Balivada, shares a personal moment that completely changed the way she thinks about water, privilege, and childhood. It’s a reminder that while no parent would knowingly choose unsafe water for their child, too many families simply don’t have a choice.

At Naandi Water, our School Water Programme exists to change that reality. By providing access to safe drinking water in government schools, we’re helping children stay healthier, attend school more regularly, and focus on what every child deserves—a chance to learn, grow and dream.

We’re seeking support for our School Water Program for the children living in the villages of Adilabad and Bhadradari Kothagudem in Telangana. You can sponsor a child’s safe water for a whole year for just Rs.350. Rs.3,500 protects a whole classroom of ten; Rs.35,000 can transform an entire school.

Before: A child drinks from a contaminated tap, returns to class with an upset stomach, misses a day of school, or sits half-asleep through lessons. Meals cooked with poor-quality water can taste off and may even make children ill.

After: The same child drinks safe, purified water in the classroom. They finish their mid-day meal without worry. They feel energized, attend school regularly, and can focus on learning and play. Clean water doesn’t just stop diseases, it restores dignity, boosts concentration, and helps children thrive.

This “after” is possible for 2,500+ children in Telangana, but only if we act now. Rs.350 sponsors one child for a year. Rs.3,500 protects 10 children; Rs.35,000 transforms a whole school. Be the reason a child’s life changes for the better. Donate now at the link in our bio or story.

Every morning in the villages of Adilabad and Bhadradari Kothagudem, hundreds of school children arrive eager to learn. But for many, the water they drink remains a struggle. The taps at school and in the village carry water loaded with fluoride and harmful bacteria. This unsafe water steals energy, causes illnesses, and leaves lifelong marks like fluorosis. It turns bright young learners into children who miss classes, struggle to concentrate, and lose the simple joy of being healthy.

We believe education should come with safe water. So far, donors like you have helped us reach ~35,000 children across 215+ government schools and 80+ anganwadis. Now we aim to bring safe drinking water directly into classrooms and kitchens for over 2,500 more children in Telangana — so their mid-day meals taste right and their school days are healthier.

You can sponsor a child’s safe water for a whole year for just Rs.350.
