The KGNM Trust, Hydershakote, Hyd The KGMM Trust is a non-profit organization established by Mahatma Gandhi in 1945 to work for women Mrs P Padmavathi started her career as a teacher.

she noticed that vinayak nagar, the then biggest slum in Ranga Reddy district had children who could not even afford basic education and were thus deprived of any learning. This motivated her to start a school with a nominal fee of just Rs.10 for these children. This involved lot of efforts in terms of creating awareness in villagers about basic education to the children and bringing them to school

with a belief that education can bring a major change in their lives. The school had a very humble beginning with a commitment to impart education in a philanthropic spirit & continued to grow, and today is a major contributor for the changed thought process among the locals in this slum. Having been involved and interacted with underprivileged section of society, she got aware of number of issues prevailing in rural areas and felt the need to address the same in her capabilities. This led to the birth of SOURCE (Service Organization for Urban and Rural Community Emancipation), an N.G.O that emphasized on self employment and upliftment of rural women. After recognizing her work rendered to the weaker/underprivileged, Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust approached her, seeking her services in the trust. Thus, from 2003 onwards, she has been serving with complete dedication in Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust. In 2005, with the support from the Women and Child Welfare Development, she started SWADHAR, a shelter home for women in distress. SWADHAR:
Swadhar is a shelter home to the distressed, deserted and destitute women for their rehabilitation. Along with providing shelter, KGNMT also organizes women savings group and encourages them to participate socially in an effective manner and makes them realize the need for economic independence. This is done by conducting a number of livelihood training programs like tailoring, saree rolling, paper cup and bag manufacturing and computers to inmates and village women. The fact that this Swadhar shelter home provides shelter and a sustainable program to much more women than the allotted number goes to show her concern and dedication for service. Other activities at trust includes the following:
Balwadi: catering the all round needs of children aged 0-6, our balwadi is a place where working mothers can keep their children ensured of their safety. Arogya Kendra: A primary health centre assisted by a qualified nurse to cater the health needs of rural women and children.
