The Indian Red Cross Society was incorporated under Parliament Act XV of 1920. Hon’ble President of India is the President of the Indian Red Cross Society

The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), T.S.State Branch has come into existence in the year 2014. The Hon’ble Governor is the President of IRCS, T.S. State Branch

Post bifurcation i.e, from 15.11.2014 , and after state is divided into 31 Districts from 10 Districts Branches Viz , Adilabad, Bhadradri kothagudem, Hyderabad, Jagtial, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Jogulamba Gadwal, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kumarambheem Asifabad, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Medak , Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla,Rangareddy,Sangareddy, Siddipet,Suryapet,Vikarabad,Wanaparthy, Warangal Rural, Warangal Urban, Yadadri bhuvanagiri.

The District Collector is the President of the District Branch and the Mandal Revenue Officer/Tahsildar is the President of the District Sub-Branch

The IRCS functions as an auxiliary to government programmes

Following are the Fundamental Principles of IRCS -

1. Humanity: The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavors, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples.

2. Impartiality: It makes no discrimination as to nationally, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavors to relieve the suffering of individuals, being solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress.

3. Neutrality: In orders to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement may not take sides in hostilities or engage in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.

4. Independence: The Movement is independent. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the Movement.

5. Voluntary service: It is voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain.

6. Unity: There can be only one Red Cross Or Red Crescent in any one country. It must be open to all. It must carry on its humanitarian work throughout its territory.

7. Universality: The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide.

Vision To prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies, to protect life and health, and to ensure respect for the human being, by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Mission

Ensure access to safe, quality, life saving blood and blood products through 100% non-remunerative and voluntary blood donations and to meet 100 % of requirement during times of disasters

Enroll 5% of the population as volunteers, to establish a strong network that can act in times of need

Cover 1% of the population as a trained volunteer force, so that in an emergency there are trained individuals nearby who can use their skills to save lives

Establish institutional mechanisms to promote and propagate the fundamental values of Red Cross movement

Establish institutions to deliver efficient, quality health and welfare services to people in need or in distress, particularly the poor & the disadvantaged

To establish Blood Component Separation facilities in all 18 Blood Banks by 2020

To achieve 100% voluntary blood donations by the year 2020

To meet 100% of blood unit requirements by 2022

To cover 100% of schools & colleges under Junior / Youth Red Cross by 2020

To partner with State Government in Disaster Management activities, including capacity building initiatives

To establish a state-of-the art Training Centre for Disaster Management and First Aid

To implement SERV (Social and Emergency Response Volunteers) programme in all districts by 2020

To undertake team building activities such as conduct of Sports meets and other competitions to promote values of Red Cross among youngsters

To undertake skill development programmes for youth and dropouts

To promote yoga and other health initiatives

To partner in initiatives under Swachh Bharat to improve cleanliness and sanitation and hygiene practices in the State

To take up awareness activities in environment protection
