☕✨ Sweet Souls Coffee Meet-up with UoH PhD Scholars ✨☕
On Friday, 17th April, Sweet Souls had a wonderful coffee meet-up with University of Hyderabad (UoH) PhD scholars, Ashok garu garu and Karthik garu, at the Secunderabad Sailing Club. 🌊🏞️
As part of their collaborative research between UNICEF and UoH on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), they interviewed our NGO to learn more about Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and the role of society in transforming lives of children and adults living with it. This research will contribute towards assessing the impact of NCDs and submitting valuable insights to the Telangana government. 🏛️
💡 During the discussion, we shared:
1️⃣ The motivation behind forming the society, along with its mission and vision. Our community strengths such as supportive doctors, allied healthcare professionals and trained diabetes educators (most of them are living with t1D) and parents having children with t1d.
2️⃣ The importance of support groups and trained healthcare professionals in improving lives.
3️⃣ Socio-economic, schools challenges and stigma faced by families.
4️⃣ Our ongoing activities, educational events, and future plans.
5️⃣ The support received from Telangana state and our advocacy efforts.
6️⃣ Recommendations to involve T1D advocates and people living with T1D in expert committees and policy making.
🤝 It was an enriching meeting, filled with passion and commitment to bring change in the lives of children and adults living with T1D. We are excited to collaborate with these dedicated public health professionals and organize events for children with Type 1 Diabetes.
🙏 Special thanks to Ashok garu and Karthik garu for approaching us for this interview. Sweet Souls is always ready to support and encourage T1D-related research. 🌟
