People For Animals Hyderabad People for animals is a voluntary organization working for Animal welfare and Animal rights enforceme

We rescue and rehabilitate sick, injured, and abused domestic animals. We also help in the fostering and adoption of orphaned and abandoned animals. Our emergency rescue home at Afzalgunj is home for various dogs, cats, birds, and other animals on their road to recovery. We conduct Animal Birth Control and Anti-Rabies vaccination programmes wherever necessary. We also have several volunteers at every part of the city who work together voraciously to ensure that any animal in need is attended to.

Important Update on Key Animal Welfare Issues in Telangana – Meeting on 29-03-2026

Smt. Maneka Gandhi held an important meeting with the Hon'ble Chief Minister Telangana Sri. A. Revanth Reddy garu and senior officials to address three critical ongoing animal welfare issues in the state.

Key Discussions & Outcomes:

1. Mass Killing of Dogs in Telangana
The issue of illegal mass killing of stray dogs was strongly raised. It was emphasized that such actions must be immediately stopped and handled strictly as per animal welfare laws, Panchayat Raj Minister seethakka garu along with secretary to take up mass awareness at panchayath level.

2. Renewed Animal Sacrifice Practices
The resurgence of animal sacrifice in certain areas was discussed. A state-wide awareness and strict enforcement strategy was suggested.

3. Implementation of ABC & ARV Programs
It was directed that Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) programs should be implemented across all districts of Telangana in a structured and effective manner.

On 21-01-2026, we received a distress call from a volunteer at Begumpet Chikoti Gardens. A person cruelly and intentionally hit a dog with a stick, leaving the innocent soul paralysed with a broken spine and in severe pain.

The dog was immediately shifted to our Emergency Rescue Home for urgent treatment and care.

A complaint was filed at Begumpet Police Station By our PCA Team Dattatraya joshi, and we appreciate their prompt action — an FIR has been registered against the culprit.
Animal cruelty is a crime, not a mistake.

Let this be a reminder: violence against animals will not go unnoticed or unpunished.

On 02-02-2026, Team People For Animals (PFA) Hyderabad & Secunderabad met Sri N. Ramachandra Rao Garu, BJP State President, regarding the upcoming Municipal and Corporation elections.

We submitted a representation highlighting our serious concern about political contestants making campaign promises to remove community dogs, monkeys, and other animals from their constituencies to attract votes. We explained that such promises are unconstitutional, illegal, and against animal welfare laws.

He responded positively and assured us that he would instruct contestants not to include such statements in their election campaigns.

We sincerely thank him for his understanding, support, and commitment towards compassion and the lawful, humane treatment of community animals.

PFA Hyderabad and HSI have taken a significant step by meeting the Chief Secretary of Telangana State to address the ongoing mass killings, relocations, and confinement of dogs in Telangana. This joint effort aims to bring attention to the issue and seek action against those responsible for animal cruelty.

We look forward to see positive steps taken by our Hon Leaders towards our stray dogs, thereby promoting healthy co existence
