Like the cuckoo, even her name has just three syllables—Ja-na-ki. “Yad yad ācarati śreṣṭhaḥ…”—she was an extraordinary singer whose life and artistry continue to inspire even contemporary musicians. Her place and stature in Indian music are simply irreplaceable.

For the Telugu people, Janakamma's voice was a divine blessing bestowed by the Almighty without their having to perform any penance. There was no raga that did not flow effortlessly through her voice, and no emotion that she could not express with perfection. She embodied simplicity, freedom from jealousy, and a life that was exemplary, inspiring, and complete.

I fondly remember the occasion at the home of composer Sri Madhavapeddi Suresh, where she asked me to sing Ghantasala garu's "Pushpa Vilapam." She listened with great appreciation and praised my rendition.

I also cherish the occasion when she listened to my musical rendering of the Bhagavadgita in the recording theatre, appreciated it warmly, and later graced its release function with her presence and blessings.

I can never forget the time she visited our home, thoroughly enjoyed the brinjal curry prepared by my wife, asked for additional servings more than once, relished the meal with heartfelt satisfaction, and warmly appreciated my wife's cooking.

I have also been blessed to share the stage with that legendary singer on numerous occasions, performing together and receiving honors alongside her.

Another unforgettable memory is singing a duet with her for the Telugu film Madhyataragati Mahabharatam (Music: Sri Madhavapeddi Suresh).

Equally unforgettable is the privilege of having her render a song under my music direction for my album Sri Sai Geetanjali.

These are memories that I will cherish until my very last breath.

The glory of those who have mastered the divine art of music transcends countries, time, race, and every worldly boundary. It rises far above titles, awards, and statues.

I pray to the Supreme Lord to bestow eternal peace and the highest spiritual abode upon that great singer.

"ఈ 'దేవనర్ ఫౌండేషన్' తమ విద్యార్థులకు లౌకిక విద్య తో పాటు రామాయణ, భారత, భగవద్గీత వంటి ఆధ్యాత్మిక విద్య కూడా నేర్పిస్తూ..., తమకు వైకల్యము ఉండనే భావన దరి రానివ్వకుండా, ఆత్మ స్థైర్యాన్ని విద్యార్థులలో కలగజేయడం, నన్ను విశేషంగా ఆకట్టుకుంది. ఈ ఫౌండేషన్ పూర్తి గా సనాతన ధర్మ మార్గం లో నడవడం నాకు అమితానందం కలగజేస్తోంది. ఇతరదేశాల లో ఉన్న అంధ పాఠశాలల నిర్వాహకులు, ఉపాధ్యాయులు హైదరాబాద్ లోని ఈ 'దేవనర్' పాఠశాలను సందర్శించి, అనేక నిర్వహణా విషయాలను తెలుసుకుని, స్ఫూర్తి పొంది వెళుతున్నారంటే అభినందనీయమైన విషయం. సాధారణం గా నేను గీతా ప్రవచనాలను వెళ్ళినప్పుడు శ్రోతలు నన్ను చూస్తూ వింటారు. ఇక్కడ దివ్య దృష్టి తో చూస్తూ ఆత్మ శుద్ధి గా వింటున్నారు. అందుకే వీరు నాదృష్టి లో దైవానుగ్రహం సంపూర్ణం గా ఉన్న దివ్యాoగులు.. 'ఉద్ధరేదాత్మనాత్మానం..!" అంటాడు కృష్ణ పరమాత్మ. మనిషికి మనసే మిత్రుడు మనసే శత్రువు .. కాబట్టి అధోగతి చెందకుండా నిన్ను నువ్వే ఉద్ధరించుకో ... అని దానర్ధం ..!. ఈ శ్లోకం గుర్తుపెట్టుకుంటే చాలు ఎలాంటి వైకల్యమూ మన చెంతకు రాదు. ఇక్కడి విద్యార్థులు జాలి పడేట్టుగా లేదు.. గర్వపడేట్టు గా, స్ఫూర్తినిచ్చేట్టు గా ఉన్నారు.ఈ రోజు నేనిక్కడ పొందిన ఆనందం భావాలకు అతీతం...! ఇక్కడి ప్రతి విద్యార్ధీ దేశం గర్వపడే స్థాయిలో ఎదిగి పాఠశాల కు గర్వకారణం కావాలి.' అన్నారు గీతా గాన ప్రవచన ప్రచార కర్త డాII ఎల్ వి గంగాధర శాస్త్రి - 'దేవనర్ ఫౌండేషన్' 35 వ వార్షికోత్సవానికి ముఖ్య అతిథి గా హాజరై ప్రసంగిస్తూ...! కార్యక్రమానికి ముందు విద్యార్థులు అన్నమయ్య కీర్తనల ఆధారం గా ప్రదర్శించిన పద్మావతి శ్రీనివాస కళ్యాణం నృత్య రూపకాన్ని ఆసాంతం గంగాధర శాస్త్రి ఆనంద బాష్పాలతో తిలకించారు. కళ్ళున్న పిల్లలతో సమానం గా పరిపూర్ణత్వం తో ప్రదర్శించారని విద్యార్థులను, వారికి నాట్యం నేర్పించిన అక్షర ను ప్రత్యేకం గా అభినందించారు. గంగాధర శాస్త్రి అంధ విద్యార్థులతో కొన్ని భగవద్గీత శ్లోకాలను పలికించగా వారి వాక్స్పష్టతకు ముగ్ధులై ప్రశంసించారు. ప్రసిద్ధ నేత్ర వైద్యులు, 'దేవనర్' పాఠశాల వ్యవస్థాపకులు 'పద్మశ్రీ' సాయిబాబా గౌడ్ కు, ఆయన సతీమణి శ్రీమతి జ్యోతి లకు పుట్టినరోజు శుభాకాంక్షలు, వారి సంస్థ 35 వ వార్షికోత్సవ శుభాకాంక్షలు, ఆశీస్సులు అందించారు. 'దేవనర్' ఫౌండేషన్ ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ దర్శించదగ్గ గొప్ప 'సేవా జ్ఞాన క్షేత్రమ'ని గంగాధర శాస్త్రి అన్నారు. సమాజం చేయూత తో ఎదిగి తిరిగి సేవ ద్వారా సమాజ ఋణం తీర్చుకున్న సాయిబాబా గౌడ్ ధన్య చరితుడని, ఆదర్శప్రాయుడని గంగాధర శాస్త్రి అన్నారు. సాయిబాబా గౌడ్ కు - విద్యార్థులు సంస్కృతం లో పుట్టిన రోజు శుభాకాంక్షలను తెలియజేయడం విశేషం...! ప్రశంసనీయం గా తన బాధ్యతలను నిర్వహిస్తున్న 'దేవనర్' అడ్మినిస్ట్రేటివ్ ఆఫీసర్ శ్రీ రామకృష్ణకు - గంగాధర శాస్త్రి హృదయపూర్వక అభినందనలు తెలియజేసారు.

“What impressed me most about the Devnar Foundation is that, along with providing secular education, it also teaches its students spiritual wisdom through the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavadgita. More importantly, it instills such confidence in the students that they never allow the thought of being disabled to take root in their minds. It gives me immense joy to see this Foundation functioning entirely in accordance with the principles of Sanatana Dharma. It is truly commendable that administrators and teachers from schools for the visually impaired in other countries visit this Devnar School in Hyderabad, learn from its management practices, draw inspiration, and return to implement those learnings.

Ordinarily, when I deliver Bhagavadgita discourses, the audience listens while looking at me. Here, however, the students listen with divine vision and complete purity of heart. That is why, in my view, these differently abled students are truly blessed with the full grace of the Divine. Lord Krishna says, ‘Uddhared Ātmanātmānam…’—‘One’s own mind is one's greatest friend and one's greatest enemy. Therefore, do not allow yourself to decline; uplift yourself by your own effort.’ If one remembers and lives by this single verse, no disability can ever become a limitation. The students here do not evoke sympathy; they inspire admiration, pride, and motivation. The joy I have experienced here today is beyond words. I pray that every student of this institution rises to a level that makes the entire nation proud and becomes a source of pride for this school.” These words were spoken by Dr. L.V. Gangadhara Sastry, renowned Bhagavadgita singer, preacher, and propagator, founder and chairman of Bhagavadgita Foundation, while addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest at the 35th Anniversary Celebrations of the Devnar Foundation.

Prior to the formal program, Dr. Gangadhara Sastry watched with tears of joy the dance ballet “Padmavati Srinivasa Kalyanam,” presented by the students based on the Annamacharya Keertanas. He highly appreciated the students for delivering a performance with a level of perfection equal to that of sighted children and offered special congratulations to Akshara, who had trained them in dance.

Dr. Gangadhara Sastry then asked the visually impaired students to recite several verses from the Bhagavadgita and was deeply impressed by the clarity and precision of their pronunciation, praising them wholeheartedly.

He conveyed his birthday greetings and blessings to renowned ophthalmologist and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Sai Baba Goud, founder of the Devnar School, and to his wife Smt. Jyothi, while also extending his best wishes and blessings on the 35th anniversary of their institution.

Dr. Gangadhara Sastry described the Devnar Foundation as a remarkable “sacred center of service and knowledge” that everyone should visit. He said that Dr. Sai Baba Goud, who rose in life with the support of society and has repaid that debt through selfless service, is truly a blessed individual and an exemplary role model.

A particularly noteworthy moment was when the students conveyed their birthday wishes to Dr. Sai Baba Goud in Sanskrit. Dr. Gangadhara Sastry also extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sri Ramakrishna, the Administrative Officer of Devnar, for carrying out his responsibilities with exemplary dedication and excellence.

ప్రసిద్ధ నటులు శ్రీ ఎం మురళీమోహన్ తన 61 వ వివాహ దినోత్సవం (19.6.2026) సందర్భం గా హైదరాబాద్ లోని 'దేవ్ నర్' అంధ విద్యార్థుల పాఠశాల లో గడిపారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి విశిష్ట అతిధిగా గీతా గాన ప్రవచన ప్రచారకర్త, భగవద్గీతా ఫౌండేషన్ వ్యవస్థాపకులు డాII ఎల్ వి గంగాధర శాస్త్రి హాజరయ్యారు. అంధ విద్యార్థులు తాము చేసిన అనేక కంప్యూటర్, సైన్స్ ప్రక్రియలను చేసి చూపించి 'శభాష్' అనిపించుకున్నారు. జ్ఞాన నేత్రం తో ప్రపంచాన్ని దర్శిస్తూ, ఉన్నతమైన లక్ష్యాలతో కర్మయోగుల్లా పనిచేస్తూ, ఏకాగ్రత తో ప్రయాణాన్ని కొనసాగిస్తూ స్ఫూర్తినందిస్తున్న విద్యార్థులను గంగాధర శాస్త్రి ప్రశంసించారు. తాను శ్రీమాన్ డాII ఆర్ వి ఎస్ ఎస్ అవధానులు తో కలిసి రచించిన భగవద్గీత సంక్షిప్త పరిచయం గ్రంథం 'బ్రెయిలీ' పుస్తక రూపం లో ఈ పాఠశాల లో ప్రత్యక్షం కావడం తనకు అమితానందాన్ని కలుగజేసిందని గంగాధర శాస్త్రి అన్నారు. రామాయణ భారతాది ఇతిహాసాలను పిల్లలకు పరిచయం చేస్తే ....నైతికవిలువలతో పాటు, ఆత్మస్థయిర్యం, ఎంతటి దుఃఖం కలిగినా చలించని స్థితప్రజ్ఞ లక్షణం, ఉన్నతమైన లక్ష్యం ఏర్పడతాయని అన్నారు. ఈ సందర్భం గా విద్యార్థులు గంగాధర శాస్త్రి సమక్షం లో భగవద్గీత లోని 'పురుషోత్తమ ప్రాప్తి యోగా'న్ని పారాయణచేసి అభినందనలందుకున్నారు. మూడు దశాబ్దాలుగా వేల మంది అంధ విద్యార్థులకు అనేక ఉన్నతమైన సంస్థలలో ఉద్యోగాలు పొందేలా అనితరసాధ్యమైన శిక్షణా సేవలందిస్తున్న 'దేవనర్' సంస్థ నిర్వాహకులు ప్రసిద్ధ నేత్ర వైద్యులు పద్మశ్రీ సాయిబాబా గౌడ్, శ్రీమతి జ్యోతి లకు గంగాధర శాస్త్రి 'భగవద్గీత గ్రంథం' తో హృదయపూర్వక అభినందనలు, శుభాకాంక్షలు తెలిపారు. ఇటువంటి సేవాతత్పరులకు 'పద్మశ్రీ' పురస్కారాలతో పాటు శాశ్వత ప్రాతిపదికన చేయూతను అందించడం ప్రభుత్వాల బాధ్యత అన్నారు.

'పద్మశ్రీ' పురస్కృత శ్రీ మురళీమోహన్ సేవలను అభినందిస్తూ, భగవద్గీత గ్రంథం బహూకరిస్తూ పెళ్లి రోజు శుభాకాంక్షలు తెలియజేసారు. ఆయన ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి ఆహ్వానించి ఉండకపోతే ఈ రోజు వృధా అయిపోయేదని భావిస్తున్నానన్నారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమం లో సుమన్ టీవీ సీఈఓ శ్రీ ఏ ప్రభు, శ్రీ బి ఎస్ రావు, శ్రీ వివేక్ నరసింహం తదితరులు లు పాల్గొన్నారు. అనంతరం శ్రీ మురళీ మోహన్, శ్రీ గంగాధర శాస్త్రి లు విద్యార్థులకు బోజనాలను వడ్డించారు.

Renowned actor Sri M. Murali Mohan chose to spend his 61st wedding anniversary (June 19, 2026) at the Devnar School for Blind Students in Hyderabad. Distinguished guest Dr. L.V. Gangadhara Sastry—Singer, global preacher and propagator of Bhagavadgita and founder chairman of Bhagavadgita Foundation—was invited to participate in the event.

The visually impaired students won the admiration of all present by demonstrating several computer-based and scientific projects, showcasing their remarkable abilities and determination. Dr. Gangadhara Sastry praised the students for viewing the world through the “eye of knowledge,” pursuing lofty goals, and continuing their journey with focus, confidence, and inspiration. He expressed immense joy upon seeing the Braille edition of the book “A Brief Introduction to the Bhagavadgita,” which he co-authored with Dr. R.V.S.S. Avadhanulu, being used in the school. He noted that introducing children to the great epics such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata helps cultivate moral values, inner strength, emotional resilience, and the qualities of a Sthitaprajna—one who remains steadfast even in the face of great sorrow—while also inspiring higher ideals in life.

On this occasion, the students recited the Purushottama Prapti Yoga chapter of the Bhagavadgita in the presence of Dr. Gangadhara Sastry and received his heartfelt appreciation. He congratulated Padma Shri Sai Baba Goud and Smt. Jyothi, the dedicated administrators of the Devnar institution, for rendering unparalleled service to thousands of visually impaired students over the past three decades. Presenting them with copies of the Bhagavadgita, he conveyed his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes. He further remarked that it is the responsibility of governments not only to honor such selfless servants of society with awards like the Padma Shri, but also to extend sustained institutional support to their noble work.

Dr. L.V.Gangadhara Sastry also sang selected verses from the Bhagavadgita and explained their practical relevance in daily life. Congratulating Padma Shri awardee Sri Murali Mohan for his service to society, he presented him with a copy of the Bhagavadgita and conveyed his wedding anniversary wishes. He remarked that had Sri Murali Mohan not invited him to this meaningful gathering, he would have considered the day wasted.

The event was also attended by Sri A. Prabhu, CEO of Suman TV. Following the program, Sri Murali Mohan and Dr. Gangadhara Sastry personally served meals to the students.
