A news item has been published in Todays Eenadu News Paper dtd.11.06.2019 on missing persons under the title “Eamipothunnaru” indicating that large number of cases of persons are reported and police have not been paying adequate attention for tracing of missing persons. In this regard, it is informed that on an average about 85% of the missing persons have been traced over a period of time during the year 2018. The missing persons include male, female ranging from children to old aged persons. The reasons for missing cases include announcement of examination results, love affairs, family disputes, financial reasons, lack of care of the aged parents by the children etc, The Police department has been promptly registering all cases of missing and investigation is taken up immediately. The missing cases are treated on par with other criminals cases in terms of priority. All possible efforts have been made by the police with the help of the family members in tracking and tracing the missing persons.

All Patrol Vehicles, Blue Colts, Beat Officers, investigation officers are provided with the photographs of the missing persons using technology for a thorough search and tracking in all localities throughout the state. In fact Facial Recognition System (FRS) is being used extensively for identifying and tracing the missing persons in Telangana State. Telangana State Police is a pioneer in use of Technology for tracing the missing persons.
CID has a special wing for undertaking tracing of the missing persons in case they are not traced in the local police stations within 4 months in spite of the best efforts by local police. Telangana Police also conducts State wide special drives for tracking of missing children regularly under the banner of “Operation Smile” and “Operation Muskan” in coordination with all stake holder departments. Police Stations all over the State have been directed from time to time to pay adequate attention for tracing of all the missing persons.

There is a SOP to be followed by all the Investigation Officers for effective tracking and tracing of the missing persons. It is not correct to say that police have been neglecting the cases of investigation of missing persons.

The public are assured that the Telangana Police Department will continue to strive hard and trace all the missing persons by making the best possible efforts in each and every case leaving no stone unturned.
