Today, on World Day Against Child Labour, we pause to remember the millions of children whose childhoods are being stolen.
Despite progress, nearly 138 million children worldwide remain trapped in child labour, with almost 54 million engaged in hazardous work that threatens their health, safety, and development. These are children who should be learning, playing, dreaming, and discovering who they are, not carrying the burdens of survival before they have had the chance to be children.
Behind every statistic is a child with hopes, talents, and potential. A child who deserves safety, opportunity, and the freedom to imagine a safer future.
At My Choices Foundation, we believe every woman, child, and family deserves the choice to live a life free from abuse, violence, and exploitation.
We know that child labour does not happen in isolation. It is often rooted in poverty, trafficking, child marriage, domestic violence, school dropouts, and a lack of opportunity. When families are vulnerable, children are often the ones who pay the highest price.
Through our Safe Village Program, we work alongside communities to address these root causes before exploitation occurs. We equip parents, teachers, community leaders, and children with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to recognise risks, prevent s*x trafficking, keep children in school, and create safer futures.
Because prevention is more than stopping harm. It is creating environments where children can flourish.
It is helping parents make informed choices. It is empowering communities to protect their own.
It is ensuring that every child has the freedom to learn, grow, dream, and reach their full potential.
Every child deserves a childhood.
Every child deserves the opportunity to live free from fear and s*xual exploitation.
Today, we stand with the children of India and recommit ourselves to building communities where safety replaces vulnerability, hope overcomes fear, and every child has the opportunity to make the choices to live lives free from abuse, violence and s*xual exploitation.
