Prison World is an initiative started by Shri. V.K. Singh, IPS (VRS), former Director General of Prisons, Telangana with the support and active participation of several senior Police Officers, Prison Officers
(both serving and retired), eminent academicians, Psychologists, prominent Social Workers and
conscious citizens from all over the country to understand the importance of prevention of crime
and to support reforms in the Prison Departments across India. The main objectives of the Prison
World Organization are: To promote Prison reforms across the country (India) To create awareness among the
community on importance of
Correctional Institutions, its nature
of work and rehabilitation process. To support and encourage
rehabilitation of prison inmates
extend legal support to the prison
inmates who are in need to justice
and cannot afford it. To undertake different programs
which will help in building
motivation among staff posted in
prisons and improving relationship
between custodian and prisoners To encourage and implement
psychosocial interventions in the
prisons and with their family members To support various Governments and Prison Departments to work towards improving
financial sustainability of the institution by undertaking various income generating activities Creating banking habits To promote industries like retail outlets for petroleum companies and steel furniture
manufacturing, etc
