The North South Foundation Scholarship program in India is designed to encourage excellence among the poor children who excel academically but need help to attend college. based on merit and financial need. NorthSouth Foundation uses uniform eligibility criteria to identify meritorious students across chapters. NorthSouth Foundation has distributed more than 20,000 scholarships to students who nee

d financial support to pursue their quest for knowledge in their chosen fields. The scholarship is an annual award and not a one-time payment. The student is eligible for the scholarship until graduation as long as he/she maintains high academic standards. NorthSouth Foundation funds these scholarships by raising donations in the US. The local chapters located in various states in India do the commendable job of advertising to invite applications from students, screening these applications and selecting the most needy group of students who eventually become NorthSouth Foundation scholarship recipients. Before 2010 there were 10 active chapters in the following cities: Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Madurai, Nagercoil and Pune. In 2010 6 new chapters were started in Chandigarh, Patna, Moradbad, Guwahati, Patiala and Udaipur. You can volunteer to help start a new chapter anywhere in India.
