India’s rural livelihood systems are undergoing profound transitions shaped by climate change, technological advancement, demographic shifts, and evolving market structures. These changes pose interconnected challenges across the three critical pillars of development — People, Planet, and Prosperity — demanding integrated, evidence-based, and future-oriented responses.

Investing in the Planet for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods: climate-resilient and regenerative agriculture, water and forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, circular economy, green finance, and carbon markets

Inclusive and Resilient Livelihoods for Rural Communities: gender-responsive and youth-focused strategies, allied livelihoods, health, nutrition, wellbeing, and strengthening collectives such as SHGs, FPOs, and cooperatives

Ensuring Prosperity through Rural Enterprises: agri-business and micro-enterprises, value chain and market system development, financial inclusion, digital tools, AI-enabled innovations, and public–private–community partnerships
